CROSS COUNTRY | A Wet and Wonderful Challenge of Endurance, Determination, Strategy and this year... soggy socks?
Our annual Cross Country event was held on Friday 28 March, and despite the unpredictable weather, our students tackled the track with grit, laughter, and impressive spirit.
The day kicked off under overcast skies and hopeful hearts—but those hopes were quickly dampened (literally) as drizzle turned into steady rain during the junior races. Still, spirits were high, and the sound of laughter echoed louder than the rain.
A surprise downpour brought a temporary pause, sending everyone indoors for shelter. But with a watchful eye on the radar and a little patience, the skies eventually cleared. And just like that, our 15s, 16s, 17s, and 18s runners took to the course, delivering some of the most competitive races of the day.
Huge thanks to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to ensure a safe and fun event for all.
Congratulations to our winners (and to everyone who braved the mud!):
Under 12s: Baya-Cruz Johnston (1st), Lucinda Martiniello (2nd)
Under 13s: Sofia Di Martino (1st), Lila Harrison (2nd)
Under 14s: Natalia Hall (1st), Joely Suttor (2nd)
Under 15s: Grace Duggan (1st), Jasmine Moffitt (2nd)
Under 16s: Bridie Hughes (1st), Mae Hinds (2nd)
Under 17s: Cate Giason (1st), Ella Yates (2nd)
Under 18s: Celeste Carolan (1st), Tessa Body (2nd)
We’re proud to announce that our SMC representative team will head to Nowra for the Wollongong Diocese Cross Country Championships on 5 May. Go team!
A memorable day—mud and all. Bring on next year… with a little more sunshine, we hope!
