SUSTAINABILITY CONFERENCE | On Friday 25th August, 7 students from Year 9 – 11 attended the Edmund Rice College Sustainability Conference. Students from 8 schools came together to share what they have been doing to address sustainability in their schools since the COVID pandemic. Waverley College ran a workshop, looking at how their school had addressed the ongoing litter problem and then all students worked together in groups to find creative ways to address littering at their own schools. The highlight of the day was Silver Logie winner, host of Gardening Australia Costa Georgiadis talking about sustainability and addressing the importance of small actions that students can promote within their school communities. MATER DEI | Recently some Year 11 students, Lydia Antunovich-Bozinoska, Nieve Campbell, Maya Chrostowski and Olivia Sheridan attended Mater Dei to celebrate St Benedict's Feast Day. The day started with a beautiful Mass led by Father John Ho. Following the Mass, the school recognised two individuals for their contributions to Mater Dei; a year 12 student Oliver was the recipient of the St Benedict Hospitality Award and St Benedict Community Award. After Mass, students engaged in a range of fun activities such as inflatables, mask making, sport games, biscuit decorating, a disco and much more. Our St Marys Girls were there to assist with running activities for the younger students and getting involved in all the fun activities with the students.
