RAISE YOUR VOICE | The inaugural SMC Raise Your Voice Public Speaking Competition was held last night in the PLC. Students from Years 7 to 11 presented speeches on a range of topics, wowing an appreciative audience with their poise and passion. It was a wonderful event that showcased not only the public speaking talents of our students, but their courage and maturity. Every student had something insightful to say, prompting the audience to laugh, think and even cry. Our adjudicators were ex-student, Maya Francis, and graduating Year 12 students, Serena Lucato and Cleo Fien. .All competitors are to be commended for their efforts and the winners were: Junior section – 1st Sophie O’Dwyer 2nd Grace Docherty Intermediate section – 1st Rebecca Parker 2nd Lucy Moore Senior section – 1st Leila Thompson 2nd Juliette Thornberry Thank you to family, friends and staff members who attended to support our speakers, and to the dedicated student helpers who were on hand to welcome guests and act as chairpersons and timekeepers. We are looking forward to SMC Raise Your Voice 2023! #raiseyourvoice

MOCK TRIAL | St Mary’s has a proud history of competing in the Mock Trial competition, with 2022 being no exception. 10 girls from Year 11 acted as barristers, solicitors, witnesses, court officers or magistrate’s associates to immerse themselves in both criminal and civil trials. The girls gave up numerous lunch times but worked cohesively to make it to the final 32 schools from across NSW and the ACT. The girls learned so much about the practice of law to complement their theoretical understanding from Legal Studies classes. We are very proud of their commitment and achievement. Ms O’Donaghoe, Mr Bee & Ms Kendell
