This National Reconciliation week, St Mary’s students were asked to consider how we can be ‘brave’ in tackling equality for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. During Tutor Group prayer and discussion was focused on actions we can take as individuals to contribute to a more just, equitable and reconciled Australia. At the College assembly the acknowledgement of country focused on some of our College community members sharing information about their Aboriginal identity. Students have been participating in the National Reconciliation official poster colouring competition open - Winners announced soon.
The taste of Italia, ‘il bel Paese’ has been enjoyed by all at the College this week to mark Italy’s National Day. From the Italian National Anthem to start of the day, Italian music throughout the day to lunch time tombola and trivia. Not to mention the delicious authentic lunches all’italiana that Tina in the Canteen has been preparing all week, a real culinary ‘giro d’Italia’. One thing is for sure, St Mary’s girls (and staff) love cannoli. In fact, I think we broke a record having sold 100 cannoli in 10 minutes! Evviva L’Italia!!!
