Strengthening Island Roots
Take a trip to cahealthfood #CHFANow with our Digital Marketing Manager, Sita Huber!
As someone at Edible who works behind the scenes, it’s always a joy to attend in-person events like CHFA — yes, for the samples, but even more for the conversations, the connections, and a few solid hugs.
Traveling from our beautiful Island to CHFA West this year — and seeing so many familiar Island faces shining bright — was a true reminder of why I love this industry.
I was there to listen, learn, and bring back the stories behind the products — the human heart that fuels the natural health world.
Some of the moments that stayed with me:
🚐 Gathering Place Trading: I learned that this family-run company, based on Cortes Island, started when Ryan traded his van for Rooibos tea — a story that speaks volumes about passion, creativity, and taking a leap of faith.
👖 Sensylene Blue: I discovered that this natural pigment was the original color for blue jeans — long before it found new life in a healing bath product made by a Canadian company — now beloved by people with #EDS for its soothing properties.
✨ Kula Foods: Meeting Asha reminded me that in a world of brands trying to be “cool,” true warmth shines even brighter.
🧀 Quebec Potato Chips: Sometimes it’s the little joys — like discovering Camembert-flavoured chips — that remind you food really is a love language.
🍹 Moonshine Mama’s: Their Happy Hour buzzed with pure Salt Spring Island energy — a reminder that joy is also a wellness essential.
It was also inspiring to see American brands showing up with heart and resilience (Robert your energy is magnetic!), and to be reminded that good people and good products exist across every border.
Even from a small corner of the world, our roots run deep — and our energy stretches far. 🌍
Cheers to spreading kindness and good health! Sita

Day 2 of #CHFAnow has commenced with the inaugural day of the trade show, showcasing numerous robust Canadian brands this year. Notably, castor oils are a highly sought-after item. The vegan egg alternative is surprisingly palatable and features a runny yolk reminiscent of a real egg. You can find them at Vegan Supply Chinatown. 😊
