On the Spot Cleaners gave us an estimate over the phone for cleaning our ducts. Their estimate was lower than at least one of their competitors and we decided to go ahead.
On the appointed day, Mitch, our duct cleaning tech, phoned ahead to let me know that he was a bit ahead of schedule. When Mitch arrived, he was polite and explained what he was going to do. He repeated the estimate and walked through our house to give me "final price", which was actually a bit lower than the original estimate, though the price didn't include cleaning our clothes dryer duct/vent.
He worked efficiently, but he was willing to answer all of my questions and share some pro tips. I appreciated it when he asked me if it was okay if he removed one of the "painted-on" return covers in order to clean more thoroughly, since that risked minor damage to the paint around the vent cover. (By the way, removing the cover did only minor damage to the paint and only just around the vent, not a serious problem at all. I'm satisfied with that.)
After cleaning our ducts, he gave me the option to have our ducts sprayed with some antimicrobial stuff, to which I agreed. When I asked him, he showed me some of the stuff he'd cleaned out of the ducts. When prompted, he also suggested some things to look out for and some trips for taking care of our ducts and vents. He also did a pretty good job of cleaning up after himself.
In total, Mitch worked for about 3 1/2 hours and provided us with an invoice, accepting payment by check, which we appreciate. It's always hard to assess the work of a pro when you're not a pro, but it seems to me that Mitch did a very good job.
