I became a patient when Dr Rusty Newton was there and then transitioned to Dr Mize. He and the entire staff go above and beyond to make your visit as pleasant as possible. (Evelyn rocks BTW).
I’m here every 6 months (back again today (2/13/19) and still can’t say enough good things about this practice. “Warm, friendly and very knowledgeable” only begins to
describe everyone there. If you need a periodontist, THIS is the place to go.

My experience was amazing! I'm a very difficult patient, I have extreme high levels of anxiety, Dr. Mize and his staff, treated me absolutely wonderful, they didn't allow my bad nerves affect their ability to handle my severe dental needs. I had to have several teeth removed and bone grafting, and implants. The whole experience was very pleasant and afterwards, I had absolutely no pain, I didn't even have to take my pain medication, I had no swelling or pain. Dr Mize is awesome! I highly recommend Sunset Peridontist to anyone who has difficult dental needs and has high anxiety about dental or medical procedure.

These guys are awesome! I am terrified of going to the dentist, much less a periodontic! I didn't go for years and then needed both. I have been going to this practice for years. They are helpful, compassionate, and very considerate of the patient's feelings and past experiences. Plus, Dr. Mize does excellent work and a shout out for Evelyn who now cleans my teeth! The office staff is remarkable also!! Gee, I can't think of a negative because I haven't experienced one.

I had a gum graft performed by Dr. Mize in mid-July, 2018. I have to be one of those patients that every dental practice dreads, as I have a severe gag reflex and am very nervous at a dental visit. The prospect of having anything done, let alone a major procedure, was simply terrifying. From the first meeting, Dr. Mize was very patient and considerate and even took a separate phone call from me to discuss treatment options. I have a condition that requires a pre-med and surprise - I also have trouble taking large pills. The staff was very kind and made arrangements for all the medication I would need before and after the procedure to be provided in liquid form, which was a tremendous help for me. On the day of the appointment, I was incredibly nervous. The staff helped by remaining calm and reassuring me. Dr. Mize administered the IV sedation and within a few moments, I was completely unaware of anything being done. When I regained awareness, the procedure was almost over and I wasn't afraid or uncomfortable. I'm amazed that I was able to have this procedure completed and so very thankful to Dr. Mize and the entire staff for working with me to have this important work done to protect my teeth and overall health. If necessary, I would be absolutely comfortable having IV sedation with Dr. Mize's supervision again in the future.

I had a tooth which had to be removed by cutting it into 3 pieces. It was done a couple days before Thanksgiving. Dr. Mize called that evening to check on me. He gave me his cell number and told me to call him if I had any pain during the thanksgiving weekend. I didn't have any pain but was impressed by his concerns and professionalism.

Dr. Mize is one of the best doctors I could count on because he actually takes the time to listen about what problems I had with my tooth and the pain coming from gum gingivitis and from after a root canal surgery. I am still in the process of recovery but i have full confidence that this doctor will stand by you all the way to find the appropriate solution. He has for me so i know that I am in the best of hands and care here!
