I had a hair transplant at Vera Clinic two and a half months ago (23rd February) and so far I've been incredibly happy and amazed with the results so far.
I've been self conscious about my hair line since I was in my early 20s (29 now) and having seen the reuslts of a few friends that went to Istanbul for similar proceduces decided to go myself.
I chose Vera Clinic, after research almost 30 of the top clinics becuase of their excellent communication and easy to follow graphic design and images. I was quickly set up with a technician who answered any and all my questions no matter how big or small.
The booking was made three weeks before the operation and I flew to Istanbul from Kuwait and was met at the airport by the driver from Vera Clinic. I was taken to the 5* Hilton Hotel and relaxed here the day before the operation.
The next morning the driver met me at the lobby and I was taken to the clinic. The clinic is in an industrial estate and the buildings outside doesn't have the clinic logo, but the medical group it is attached to. The clinic itself was perfectly clean and sterile and there were other patients having the same operation. I was talked through exactly what would happen during the day and met with the doctors, technicians and support staff.
The doctor came and had a look at my hairline and drew on the area for transplantation and I had my head shaved (first time ever). The doctor double checked the line and when we were all happy the operation began.
I had a number of injections to the back of my head (donor area). These were more uncomfortable than painful and when the anaesthetic kicked in they began removing the hair follicles (3,300). I felt nothing during this procedure and listened to music on my phone as the technicians were working on removal.
The second part, implanting the stored follicles in to the front was then started. These injections were more painful but the technicians paused during this to give me a quick break. Transplantation began, there was no pain but the sound can make you a little uncomfortable at times. These phase took about 2 hours and I actually managed to fall asleep during this part as you literally can''t feel anything.
The operation is performed my two technicians however the doctor does come to check on you from time to time. There was also a translator present most of the time.
When the operation was finished, I was bandaged up and taken back to the hotel. I had to sleep on a neck support for the first week to protect the follicles.
The next day I had a wash and a quick check up at the clinic. Then the clinic provided the basic medicines and aftercare.
At this point I was offered a lot of aftercare medication. Shampoo, Oils and spray as well as tablets. Although this was optional, I was told to get the best results these would have to be purchased. I would have liked to know about this in advance as I could have better budgeted for it and this in my opinion is the only area the clinic could improve upon.
The recovery has gone very well so far. The pictures below are after 12 days and show the best results as since then I have gone through the expected shedding, new hair falls and regrows, and this will continue up until the 3 month mark.
I've still been in contact with the clinic, through the lovely Meriem and the aftercare has been exceptional with any worries or questions being answered quickly.
To summarise, Vera Clinic offer an amazing experience. Professional, clinical, good communication and aftercare are the real strong points. I don't think I would have achieved the same results at any other clinic. I also know that at this early stage, my results are already looking better than friends who have had the treatment a longer time ago at different clinics. I have referred 3 friends to Vera Clinic thus far and will continue to do so from this point onwards as I really don't feel you would get this kind of service elsewhere.
