We have a 6 year old Lab service dog. He is very smart, learns tasks readily, and is well behaved. We started having behavioral issues: pulling when walking, window guarding, barking when we passed dogs in our car to name a few. We were overwhelmed when he started having trouble walking past certain breeds of other dogs. All these behaviors had been escalating after he and my husband had aggressive encounter with a pit bull on a walk and our pup was bit in another encounter with a Swiss mountain dog.
We reached out to Sam Ivy for help. We were assigned a trainer named Gina. She was a great tutor. The remote virtual session were wonderful. We had trained with trainers extensively for service dog training. We always experienced our pup working well with the trainer but taking much longer to learn when working afterwards with us. The remote concept puts you in charge of the training, being guided by the remote trainer. It was an excellent fit.
In less that 6 weeks, meeting twice a week, we had the behaviors well in hand. Our pup was once again looking to us for guidance and decisions rather than trying to protect us at every turn. We learned some new valuable skills and have found life is back to a more even keel.
We are on the west coast. Our trainer was on the east coast. She readily adjusted her schedule to meet our needs. If you need help with your pup I would strongly recommend the trainers of Same Ivy, especially Gina, to get you and your pup on the right track.
