After our St. Bernard, Winston has many bad behavior episodes and ultimately ending up biting a friend of mine, my husband and I decided that we needed help in changing his bad behavior. We first looked locally for a trainer, and after not being satisfied with what we found, we turned to the internet where we found Sam Ivy K9 Consultants. We watched the introductory course with Sam and decide to jump into the Intermediate Obedience Training course with Winston. Our trainer was Gina and we met with her virtually 3 times a week. Gina was excellent in teaching the us correct way to handle our big boy. A dog his size is very intimidating when he thinks he is in charge. The Sam Ivy training changes all that. We are now able to take him on walks without him pulling or chasing squirrels or rabbits. He focuses his attention on us when we ask him to he comes to us when called and the biggest breakthrough, the we can ask for and take away a bone or similar item from him without incident. Before the training he would growl and try to bite, nobody could get near him. Gina was very professional, always answering any questions we may have had. Not only did she help train Winston, she trained US in how to better recognize and correct Winston’s bad behaviors. We highly recommend Sam Ivy K9 Consultants (and Gina) if you are looking for a quality training program for your dog. They are very professional, and the results speak for themselves. We couldn’t be happier with our better behaved furry family member!

Maribel was my K9 trainer and we used an entirely virtual training method. This is a great program and I cannot recommend highly enough. We used Zoom or FaceTime to do each class and Maribel made herself available for any problems or questions outside of the classes. From a psychological perspective, their methods are superior to other dog trainers who simply teach your dog to shake, sit, or stay. I have a BA in psychology and went to grad school for mental health counseling, which is why I knew this was the program for me and my puppy. Having another trainer physically with me could confuse the dog on who is the alpha, so the virtual experience removes this possibility. Additionally, with the pandemic, I feel safer with this method as well. Maribel taught me to be the Alpha of my pack and proper pack behavior. This is key since I live in an apartment complex where many other dogs live. You never want your dog to be the one no one wants their dog to play with. Being able to provide structure in addition to obedience training has made all of the difference. My neighbors and family constantly comment on how well trained my dog is and how well he behaves. I highly recommend Sam Ivy and their training program.

I used Sam Ivy to train my pup virtually and it was AMAZING. Nate was such a great trainer and so patient with my dog and I. I was a little hesitant because of the virtual set up due to covid, but it was just as good if not better. 10/10 recommend them!!

We signed up our 6 month old lab, Lily, in the midst of COVID after a recommendation from a family member. Lily had a lot of energy and was very difficult to train on our own. I am so grateful for Gina at Sam Ivy. Training a puppy can be incredibly frustrating, but Gina brought me patience and understood my frustration when training. Our virtual training meetings were very convenient and I felt like each time I logged on, our trainer was right there in our home with us. Lily is so much more well behaved now. Whenever I do come across a problem at home, I think "What would Gina do?" and go back to the triangle she taught us to use. I only wish I could hug her and thank her for all her help!
