I adopted Loki, a German Shepherd/Samoyed mix when he was four months old. At the time, I had pretty much no idea what I was doing since he’s the first dog I’ve ever owned (let alone a very high drive/energy pup). Loki had trouble with things like reactivity, lack of obedience, and little to no confidence. I knew I had to find a trainer who cared for Loki the way I do; I knew I didn’t want to send him to a boarding school mainly because I wanted to learn how to train him myself, and unfortunately there’s only so much that can be done with online videos or training blogs.
Thats when I stumbled upon Sam Ivy. At first, I was a little skeptical about meeting with a trainer via Zoom, and honestly didn’t know what to expect. I decided to go ahead with the Off-Leash Package, and got paired with Nate as my trainer. Nate was very thorough and informative on the goals we had set in the Meet and Greet when we first met. I also loved that the sessions were flexible, yet consistent. When we started officially training, Loki began to become more confident, which in turn made me confident about his training. Nate was there for me every step of the way, and answered questions I had even if we weren’t having a session that day.
We have two more sessions to go, but the improvement Loki has made thus far is beyond amazing. His temperament is much calmer, he isn’t reactive, and it feels like we are truly connected. To anyone looking for trainers that are caring, supportive, and patient, please consider Sam Ivy. I can wholeheartedly say that every second I spent working with Loki and the Sam Ivy team were well worth it. Thanks Sam Ivy!
