Review: An Absolute Lifesaver for Rescue Dogs — The Sam Ivy Team is Unmatched!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sam Ivy trained my previous two dogs, so when I brought home my latest rescue, I already knew I wouldn't think for a single moment of using any other professional team. But nothing could have truly prepared me for the miracle they worked with our new dog, Bleu.
Bleu came from a local county pound where he had spent four agonizing months in a cage. He was passed up time and time again because he was terrified of his own shadow and refused to engage with anyone. When he did react, it was out of pure fear-aggression—barking and snarling at literally anybody who even looked at his direction. He didn't know a single command, and at a powerful 85 pounds with zero training, walking him was incredibly difficult and stressful. My neighbor even looked at him and said, "You're probably not gonna be able to keep this dog, he is too far gone."
Enter Sam and our phenomenal trainer, Holli.
What makes Sam Ivy Dog Training completely different from traditional trainers is their foundational philosophy. They don’t just teach a dog to mechanically sit or stay for a treat while ignoring the underlying emotional state. Their philosophy focuses heavily on owner empowerment, professional communication, and building deep trust and respect so the dog looks to you for leadership. Holli didn't try to just "fix" Bleu's surface symptoms; she worked with us to change how he processed the world around him.
After about six weeks of dedicated training with Holli, the transformation is nothing short of breathtaking. This 85-pound powerhouse now knows how to sit, lie down, stay, and come perfectly—and he walks like an absolute gentleman on the leash. While he is still understandably shy around some unfamiliar humans, his aggression is completely gone.
The ultimate proof of the Sam Ivy method happened today: we took Bleu out to Starbucks! He calmly hung out and happily enjoyed two "puppuccinos." Multiple strangers walked right up to us and commented on what a good boy he is. Seeing a dog who used to snarl in terror now soaking up compliments in public is a feeling I can't even describe.
If you have a dog that feels "too far gone," or if you just want the absolute best relationship possible with your canine companion, do not hesitate. Sam, Holli, and the entire Sam Ivy team are the gold standard of professional dog training. They didn't just train Bleu; they gave him a brand new life.
