I did a lot of research on luxury safaris prior to my husband and me booking the Micato African Splendour safari (August 15-31st). We debated about whether we would include South Africa and Victoria Falls as part of our trip, and we are so glad we did. In addition, friends who had traveled with Micato previously, recommended Micato.
We were very pleased with the excellent service, knowledgeable guides and beautiful, luxury accommodations throughout the trip. One was nicer than the next. We especially enjoyed The Manor and Mahali Mzuri. Micato provided many touches that made the trip even more special, including Mrs. Pinto and the president meeting us at the airport in Nairobi and having lunch with us upon our return. Prior to our trip, upon returning to our room each night and following our trip, Micato provided thoughtful gifts as remembrances of our travels. It was important to us that our trip be “all-inclusive” and we appreciated that we were not “nickel and dimed” for WIFI, tips, drinks, and laundry.
In Nairobi we stayed at Hemingway’s Nairobi. From there we visited Karen Blixen’s home and the Giraffe Centre. It was a real treat to be able to hand feed the Rothschild’s giraffes.
Another highlight of our trip was our visit to Micato’s AmeriShare project in the middle of one of the worst slums in Nairobi. Micato and its clients do so much to support the people and children of this area. Our last night was spent at the Hotel Fairmont The Norfolk in Nairobi, another very nice property.
