My husband & I have had “the trip of a lifetime” twice, both with Micato! Our trip to South Africa in Feb 2019 exceeded our expectations. And after years of international travel, we have high expectations. We traveled to Kenya, Tanzania & Zanzibar in Feb 2020 and thank the entire Micato team for introducing us to such a wonderful world.

I love Micato! They are absolutely the best! I am a luxury travel advisor and have worked with many excellent safari operators…but after going on a Micato safari to East Africa in November 2019, I now understand the Micato difference. Every detail of your trip is planned perfectly. Yes, Micato has excellent guides. And yes, Micato has amazing lodging options. But Micato also has a safari director who will be with you at all times, as you go from camp to camp to ensure everything is 100% perfect. And If you have forgotten to pack something, Micato has supplies, or will go the extra mile and get what you need! Micato includes everything…all drinks, wifi, tips, laundry, etc. and I love that! I saw first hand how Micato handles a crisis as one person on my safari became ill and had to be hospitalized. Micato staff stayed with her 24/7 until her family could arrive from the US. I was so impressed! This is the type of service I want for all my clients! Micato is a family owned and run company, and the hospitality of the Pinto family is heartwarming…you feel so valued by them while visiting their home! Micato is also dedicated to helping the people of Africa through their AmericaShare program. I loved seeing and hearing about all their philanthropic activities….companies that give back to their communities are important to me and my clients. I could go on & on about how much I love Micato and why they are the best. I look forward to personally traveling again with them, and enthusiastically booking more trips for my clients with Micato.

My family had a wonderful time in South Africa with Micato Safaris. We were most excited about the game viewing (which was spectacular, that leopard!) but equally enjoyed our time in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Andrew was our guide and he kept us enthralled - even the 14 year old, who usually cannot put down his IPhone, hung on to every word. Andrew’s historical knowledge of South Africa, along with his ability to relate well to a teen, made this a trip of a lifetime for us. We have travelled extensively but felt overwhelmed with planning such a long and involved trip. Micato’s team put all of those fears to rest from the moment we booked with our safari specialist in New York to being met on arrival in Johannesburg to saying reluctant goodbyes in Cape Town...being fully escorted was new for us but absolutely made sense for this trip and worth every penny!

Our March African Safari with Micato was truly a "trip of a lifetime"! Absolutely everything about it was amazing and perfect. Our group was my 82 yr old mom, my sister and myself, (both ladies in our 50s.) We were lucky enough to be on safari with a wonderful couple in their early 80s (who were fun, intellectual, and very fit). Everyone agreed we had the BEST guide, Rene and the BEST driver, "King James" during our safari. The accommodations were 5 star and so luxurious you almost forgot you were on safari. The food was yummy, the wine was great, the staff at each of our lodges were so accommodating and friendly and bent over backwards to get us anything and everything we needed or wanted. Every time we were ready to leave a lodge we got a little "gift" from Micato, which were also wonderful African treasures to take home with us which will help us remember our dream vacation in East Africa. And of course the animals we saw were beautiful and majestic. We learned so much from Rene, he literally knows everything you can know about every tree, bird and animal in Africa and shared his knowledge with us. The small plane flights were also so fun, flying low enough over the savannah to see the animals and landscape. My favorite lodge was the Tarangire Treetops, we each had our own actual treehouse complete with a winding staircase up and a trap door at the top of the staircase to keep the animals from joining us during the night! I LOVED the double rain shower heads and the slatted wood floor of the shower. The roll-up canvas windows and zipped shut screens allowed us to feel the breeze and hear the animals at night too. I also need to give a shout out to our incredibly helpful Micato "liaison", Jeanne, from the NY office. She made our reservations, she answered every and all calls and questions we had whenever we called her (which was often) and she literally made it possible to take an 82 yr old that needed lots of extra help on safari. When I started planning this trip, I called many other companies, none of which made me feel like my mom and her extra needs would be accommodated or accepted. EVERYONE at Micato made this "bucket list trip" happen for our widowed mom and for this my sister and I will be forever grateful to Micato. My mom is still talking about her wonderful African adventure and will continue to do so for the rest of her life. Micato made us feel like part of the family and we would all love to go back on safari with Micato again in the future.

My wife and I recently travelled to Botswana, Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls with Micato and it was hands down the trip of a lifetime. Everything was perfectly orchestrated. Right from the start, we felt that we were in good hands with Micato. We loved being able to create our custom itinerary with the team of safari specialists in New York, who are incredibly knowledgeable, professional and passionate about their job. Once on the ground, the trip went off without a hitch. Our Safari Director, Hein, was a wealth of information and so warm and friendly. We loved the surprises that Micato incorporated throughout the trip - awesome gifts every evening, surprise bush dinners and amazing sundowner setups. We plan on returning to Africa again future, and would not consider traveling with any other company.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Micato and the Pinto family. I was looking through the recent brochure with its amazing photos and, in the troubling times which we are experiencing now, I recalled our trip with Micato. It was a 50th birthday and a 25th wedding anniversary and, after researching many agencies, especially those that catered to families, we chose Micato for the trip. This review is many years overdue but, suffice it to say, we were on our trip in early August of 1998. It was our first day, in Nairobi, having arrived the night before. We were leaving our hotel for a city tour when traffic came to a halt and we noticed debris floating down from the sky as sirens were sounding all around our two small vans which were carrying our group. We knew something was very wrong, but we were quickly whisked to the outskirts of town with the city tour cancelled. We were kept busy with sites outside of the city, including an unscheduled stop at a bead factory. When we were finally brought back to our hotel we were advised that the American Embassy had been bombed and there were many casualties. It was our evening to have dinner at the home of the Pintos in Nairobi. It was a lovely home and a gracious evening. Mrs. Pinto was there and reassured us that we were safe and that our contacts in the US had been notified that we were safe. We were offered the opportunity to cancel or continue the trip and all of our group agreed to continue. The next days where amazing, with the beautiful parks of Kenya and all of the animals. We felt very safe and returned to Nairobi to learn more of the tragedy that those kind and friendly people had experienced. It was a trip that we (my wife and me and our three sons...who were teenagers at the time) will never, ever forget for all of the obvious reasons....and there are many more details that I can provide ( such as my late night trip to the national hospital to offer my services!!). But I must say" thank you" to a very professional organization and family who shared their beautiful homeland with us and kept us safe and secure at a very difficult time. It has been many years, but I am glad to see that their (Micato's) tradition of excellence continues.
