In 2008, I added Africa to my travel bucket list. I committed to saving my AMX platinum points to use toward the trip. Through the years Donna Peacock, with Andover Travel, has curated many trips both internationally and domestically for me and my children. Each trip flawless which has built so much trust between us. Fast forward to 2023; I remarried and my husband and I decided to go to Africa in August of 2024 to celebrate. By now I had saved almost 2 million AMX points and used them for first class air travel. Donna researched the tour companies and recommended Micato Safaris. We chose the African Splendor trip. We were beyond thrilled and off to a great start until my husband had unexpected open heart surgery in June of 2024. Filing and collecting the insurance was an arduous process but I survived and rebooked the same trip for August 2025.
Micato representatives were well aware of our postponement, and once we arrived in South Africa it was incredible what all was done to surprise us for our anniversary. Our first stop was South Africa and our Micato guide, Trevor, was unbelievable. He treated each of the three couples in our group with such sincerity. He delighted us with welcome gifts and accommodated fabulous dinner reservations for my husband and me. When leaving South Africa he gave each couple a thoughtful book pertaining to particular interests he noticed we had, ours being flowers and birds. I truly can’t express how wonderful Trevor is, well done Micato. Our other two guides were also outstanding. Along the way and while in each country, Micato had special treats for our group. It was mind blowing. For example, in South Africa we were on our way to a penguin sanctuary, and Trevor asked if we would mind if he stopped to grab a quick cup of coffee……whaaaat? We pulled up (in our luxurious Land Cruiser) and lo and behold there was an adorable pop-up coffee truck with a lovely gentleman waiting to serve us whatever we might like. Deliciousness!!! And so much fun!! Micato’s planning along with their attention to details continued to make this an unforgettable day after day experience. Another example of their details; we had a quick layover in Nairobi, (yet another fabulous hotel) and when we came down to breakfast, they had a standing large leather trunk opened and filled with sundries you may have forgotten, run out of or just needed. Unreal! In all honesty, I went for the animals (we saw the Big Five!) but ended up falling in love with the people. Micato is also philanthropic and what a privilege it was when we visited the school, Red Hill, they founded. I hope you enjoy the photos and that you will consider Micato Tours for your African adventures.They are voted number one for good reason. I definitely plan to return and undoubtedly will book with Micato. I highly recommend this excellent tour company.

Picking a Safari company can be confusing, intimidating and is a big decision. Micato was the best from the minute we arrived until we left Africa. The attention to detail was impressive and made my wife and I feel very special. The quality of the guides, the quality of the accommodations, the quality of the safari excursions exceeded our wildest dreams and expectations. The word "WOW" was repeated countless times.
The trip to see the mountain gorillas was the highlight of our tour and is a must do on your bucket list.

We were genuinely happy from start to finish, and my mother, in particular, had an unforgettable time. Seeing her so inspired and joyful was one of the greatest gifts of all.
Marion and Henna, you didn’t just organize a trip, you created a masterpiece of experiences and emotions, something we will cherish for a lifetime. We couldn’t be more grateful or more impressed.
