Until my boyfriend had a listening party there, I had never heard of this place. But it is a little Gem!!! We arrived while their comedy show was going on so I got to sit back and observe a bit. The owner is just the nicest! And who doesn't love a place with a good backstory. He used to sell his moms pastries and sandwiches when he was a kid. He took those recipes and in honor of his mom opened up the cafe. The prices were very reasonable. The menu is simple yet tasty and reflective of his culture. The ONLY thing I did not like was the comedienne who told the crowd to "shut the f(*&^ up" then came by our tables in the back and told us to keep the comments to ourselves. Which was confusing because the strangers in the table next to me and I were not talking. I thought that was rude, especially when none of them except for one guy was funny. NOONE HAS to listen or be quiet especially when they are not sitting or there to see you. I would absolutely recommend going there. The owner's charisma and personality is enough without the nice service and yummy coffee and pastries...Just stay way from comedy night.

Amazing Pastéis De Nata! Having had my fair share of these pastries in Lisbon and Belem, I’d say that the ones sold here hold their own in comparison. Such a great find! Grabbed a box of 6 and devoured (in an embarrassingly short amount of time), but wish I’d gotten more. Can’t wait to try other items on their menu.

Love the to go drinks here. They don’t have hard liquor so their drinks are stuck to ports and beers but the drinks are so delicious. The staff is friendly and cool and will answer any questions you have about the drinks or food. They also seem to have a really fun outdoor setup now with an open air comedy.

Came for the pastel de nata. Very good and extremely rich. One is MORE than enough for me. Maybe two if I’m feeling frisky:) Vibe is friendly ,chill, laid back. Cant wait to visit when the weather gets warmer.

extraordinary Pastel de Nata (it's like, a egg custard cinnamon pie thing it's so good) i've had nata in Belém, Portugal the (heavily disputed) birthplace of pastel de nata and Joey Bats is the only nata in the states I've had that measures up. also in the pandemic they've become a safe haven for outdoor standup comedy, so lotsa love for that.

I went dancing with my friends on the weekly sunday dance party. I brought my american friend along and we both danced all night long. Very friendly crowd. Very good food , exceptional desserts. This is a jackpot for having a good time dancing to music and experience ofthe day to day NYC life. I recomend to anyone.
