Best Pastel de Nata in the world, after having tried over 100 different varieties throughout Portugal, Macau and the US. Everyone who works there starting with Joey and his mom are amazingly warm and welcome people. Joey Bats stays true to the typical Portuguese cafe not only in terms of bites to eat, but also as a home away from home, and a meeting place with friends, old and new. Go here for the Pastel de Nata, stay for the other delicious Portuguese food and great atmosphere.

Great atmosphere and even greater staff! A good selection of Portuguese treats, and having grown up eating Pastéis most days, I can vouch for the authenticity of these! Good prices too :)

The most authentic pasteis de natas we’ve come across in NYC! Pastry was well baked and crusty (no soggy bottom!), and the custard was soft, delicious and has the perfect amount of caramelization. Perfect for pairing with a BICA for that afternoon pick up. Definitely a recommend for those who want a bite of Lisbon in NYC!

Friendly service and delicious Natas. The espresso was great also. 3 $ per nata or 15$ for 6.

Tiny place, but they serve the best natas I've had outside of Portugal. Deliciously flaky and creamy and just the right amount of sweetness.

Pasteis de nata is the best pastry in NYC. We had it in their Lexington Ave location near the Roger Smith hotel. Delightful. Perfect custard in a crispy tart with just the right amount of cinnamon.

Highly recommend checking this place out! The interior is small and seating is limited. Steve was really friendly and patient with us when we asked questions and asked for recommendations. We ordered 2 natas to stay, the codfish fritter, chicken croquette, and the beef filled pastry. The natas are small, but they're delicious! It was smooth and had a strong egg flavor that was complimented well by the cinnamon and powdered sugar sprinkled on top. A must have! The codfish fritter is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It has a pleasant light fish flavor. I highly recommend if you enjoy white fish. The chicken croquette is crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. It tastes similar to stewed chicken. The beef filled pastry is flakey and soft. The beef is moist and reminds me of the flavor profile of Chinese soup with beef. Overall, highly recommend getting the natas to dine in and to go! I would definitely come back again.

You can get Pasteis de Nata for $3.27. It's as good as you'd expect.

We had opportunity to visit their Ludlow, MA in September for first time & fell in love with their pastéis de nata & Suzanne, the owner's sister. We stopped in their NYC store this weekend & after having visited Lisbon about a week ago & having Pastéis de Belém, Joey Bats Cafe is the closest to the original Pastéis de Belém ❤️❤️
