The decision making process for surfacing our garage floor was a difficult one. Especially since this is not an everyday purchase and the average person know absolutely nothing about cost and quality. First, do really need it or is a luxury and a waste of money. Do you want to go into the garage with your third most expensive investment (kids first, house second and then vehicles) and not see hot tire marks, stains and small cracks. we decided it is something that makes it look overall good and worth doing. Then the research. what do you ask, what material is better than others, what should you expect. There is some material but a great amount. Next, talking to different companies about price and what they do. We met some great people who were running a small business, and all enthusiastic about their product and probably all very good. I did take the second lowest bidder. I felt for something I didn't know, maybe the lowest bidder was maybe not the best. Could be but if there if there is a big variance, you wonder what the others are missing. Then there is the warranty. Everyone has been in the business for a while and provided good references. but what if they have a heart attack, have to move out of town, have an accident which prevents them from taking care of warranty issues 5 years into the future. With Garage Experts you do have the company (by the way, they franchise the business) backing Ben and his team. That was a piece of mind for me after making the investment. Also, I felt being a national company, their R&D would be better than a local firm. Updating materials, reformulating etc. Not a big issue but one to consider. Really sorry for this long review. Anyway, many of the other owners said they were on the job site 100% of the time. Some say they come over when done, but Ben told me he would stop buy. Man, that sent warning signs up. Every has had a time when you hired a small firm with over 25 years of experience between all their employees, and they send the two over that started last Thursday. Any way the crew that came over were 4 young guys and I thought "oh no". But long story short, they were great, came on time, didn't stand around, got right to work and did a great job. Let me tell you, it is not an easy job for them. It is dirty, dusty, messy, and physically demanding. And they did a great job. Let me say that again, they did a great job. Then after we could walk on it and put thngs back in the garage, there were some minor imperfections. Lumps or thin spots. but 99.99 % of the floor was perfect. And while there is some product on the base board, again with the overall messiness, it is hardly worth mentioning. It is a garage, right. Anyway, Ben came over the next day, scraped the lumps off, I could have done that but I was worried about taking off the top coat, and he scheduled the thin spot to be reapplied and they have already called to confirm an 8 am appointment. I would highly recommend Ben and his team to anyone who asked. One other thought if you are still reading this novel. Don't underestimate the time and effort to get everything out of the garage and in a location which it will be safe for a couple of days. We doubled the time Ben told us not top walk on the floor, bring things in and bring in the vehicles. Bringing stuff back in seemed less physically taxing but bringing items back in take longer. It is time to rearrange and rethink your stuff. Do you really need 3 pairs of clippers, organize your peg board, get some new shelves and free up floor space. That's it.
