On Saturday of the long weekend the Mamre Titration Team competed against many other high schools at Macquarie University. Devni, Ljubodrag and Joey were able to combine high level teamwork and communication skills with applied chemistry and mathematics to complete a team Titration task under pressure.
We are very proud of them, the professional manner in which they represented Mamre and their achievements. #mamrelearning

What a fabulous day Year 1 had last Wednesday learning about school life in 1889. The children experienced a variety of activities from marching around the maypole, undertaking a sewing activity, saluting the flag, spelling, arithmetic on an abacus, a science lesson on the life cycle of a moth as well as a real-life drawing activity.
The children were also given old fashioned names like Percival Mallory, Hubert Fox, Daisy Adams and Mildred Potter to name a few.
The children also heard about many of the students in 1889 having to work on the farm, long hours before they started school. They were also told that most children came to school without shoes, as many only owned one pair of shoes and they were saved for "Sunday best" to go to church.
We all learnt some interesting information today about school life in 1889. A fun place to visit but we all agreed that it was much easier being a student in 2021. #mamrelearning
