Hi everyone, I’m Lai Lai, one of the Orientation Leaders this summer, and I wanted to let you know about an amazing place on campus - the Women’s Center! The Women’s Center is located at on the 4th floor of Maloney Hall, and works to support, educate, and empower students of all genders. I have the privilege of working in this space as an undergraduate staff member, and we work together to provide mentorship programs, events, and conversations about intersectional social justice issues and student issues on campus. Some of my favorite events this past year were Love Your Body Week and our monthly dinner series DISH. Some other important resources to take note of - the Women’s Center facilitate the Bystander intervention program for first-year students and also hosts SANet - a confidential and anonymous hotline for those who have been directly or indirectly affected by sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence. When you step on to BC campus, we would love for you to visit us in the Center! It’s a great place to have some cookies, tea, and good conversation :)
#BC2024: One of the best parts of Boston College is the wide array of cultural clubs that are present on campus. The Organization of Latin American Affairs, better known as OLAA is one of them. While, first established by Latinx students in 1977 to voice the concerns that Latinx students faced at Boston College, today, the Organization serves Latinx and non-Latinx students, alike. OLAA is committed to the advancement of Latinxs not only at Boston College, but in the greater community. Through a variety of events and outings, be they dance workshops, facilitated discussions, or volunteer work, OLAA explores and promotes Latinx culture and identity.

Today we want to tell you about two more unique BC course offerings! The first is the Perspectives Program which is a multi-year core program that offers courses for students who want to develop integrated answers to life’s enduring questions. The Perspectives Program offers courses that fulfill core philosophy and an additional core area of study such as theology, arts and literature, social science or natural science. The second unique course offering is the PULSE Program whose mission to educate students about social injustice by putting them into direct contact with marginalized populations and social change organizations and by encouraging discussion on classic and contemporary works of philosophy and theology. It accomplishes this by helping students make relevant connections between course material and experience with community service. Make sure to learn more from the different communities available on My BC Orientation!
#BC2024 I’m Ally, one of your Orientation Leaders this summer, and I’m so excited to introduce you to the Robsham Theater Arts Center. This building (conveniently connected to Lower Dining Hall) houses not only the academic Theater Department, but also the three student theater groups and a variety of dance organizations. The Mainstage and the Bonn Studio are where most productions go up. The back hallway is where to go to see what’s auditioning, and the Green Room to hang out in between costume lab hours and class. Though I am not a theater major, I have been involved in shows at BC since my very first semester, and am so grateful to everyone who’s welcomed me to the community. If you’re interested in any aspect of performance or production, I encourage you to visit Robsham in the fall, where you’re sure to meet someone eager to chat — or connect with me on My BC Orientation with questions :)

#BC2024 One of the best parts of Boston College is the wide array of cultural clubs that are present on campus. This week we will be highlighting Asian Caucus, the primary advocacy organization of the Asian and Asian-American community of Boston College. AC also oversees individual Asian culture clubs such as Korean Students Association, Chinese Students Association, and a multitude of others. Asian Caucus strives for representation and advocacy for Asians and Asian Americans, but is open to any and all interested students. The organization also offers mentoring through the First Year Formation Program, where upperclass students help empower first year students to become leaders in the community.
BC’s Cornerstone Seminar Programs offer first-year students a unique selection of courses in which the instructor is also the students' first year academic advisor. Cornerstone courses include Courage to Know, First Year Topic Seminars, and some sections of First Year Writing and Perspectives! #BC2024 - learn more in the Cornerstone community on My BC Orientation!
