Hi everyone! My name is Khayli and I’m one of your Oriention Leaders this summer. Amongst the busyness of the typical BC weekday, I have found solace in the Thea Bowman AHANA Intercultural Center, located directly between upper and lower campus in Maloney Hall. Its placement makes it the perfect spot to grab a snack, take a nap or see the friendly faces of students and staff who frequent the office. Upon entering its double doors, you’re met with a smile and flyers advertising the latest events and opportunities. The BAIC has made it its mission to assist students (especially those of color) through academic advising and programs like the Bowman Advocates. This photo of the BAIC was taken from the early 2000s, look at those outfits!  I hope to see you there!
#BC2024, one of the best parts of Boston College is the wide array of cultural clubs that are present on campus. SEASA fosters an awareness of the art, beauty, culture, history, and diversity of the various Southeast Asian countries in the Boston College community. This includes Burma, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam!

I came to BC because of its amazing, authentic community. I was so excited to be somewhere where I could feel the pride and school spirit when I stepped onto campus. I knew that BC was my new home. When I first came to BC in the fall, everyone was super welcoming and greeted me with open arms. That’s not to say there weren’t times when I felt like I stood out because I was “the girl who transferred” and didn’t share some of the freshmen year experiences (like living on Newton), but for the most part everyone made me feel very comfortable - like BC is where I belonged. But what really solidified this feeling was my experience at Halftime, a retreat offered to sophomores and juniors at BC that allows time to reflect on how far they have come in college and where they want to go. At Halftime, I met amazing students and faculty that helped me figure out the person I want to become at BC. I’m excited to continue growing during my time on the Heights and I can’t wait to be back on campus in the fall!

Hi #BC2024! I’m Ebbie, one of the Orientation Leaders this summer and I wanted to tell y’all a little bit more about the BC Bands Program! We are located in Conte Forum and home to five ensembles and one dance team on campus. The “Screaming Eagles” Marching Band and “Golden Eagles” Dance Team work tirelessly to create an amazing atmosphere on Game Day! The Pep Band does the same for the hockey and basketball season, especially for big events like The Beanpot and ACC Tournaments. The University Wind Ensemble (UWE) performs beautiful and masterfully skilled concerts throughout the year. BC bOP!, the jazz ensemble, has instrumentalists and vocalists that fill the Heights with a fun and lively sound—including at one of my favorite events on campus, Dancing with bOP!. Lastly, the Symphonic Band is an ensemble for students, alumni, and community members who all share a love for music. I love the BC Bands Program with all my heart! Whichever ensemble you choose to be a part of (many choose several—I’m in three myself!), you can guarantee a close connection and community with the other members. So! If you have any music experience (or dance/vocal experience!) feel free to reach out to the Bands Office or you can shoot me a message on My BC Orientation—I’d love to chat
#BC2024 of the best parts of Boston College is the wide array of cultural clubs that are present on campus. The Chinese Students Association (CSA) is an on campus student organization promoting awareness and understanding of both Chinese culture and history while educating members on Chinese and Chinese-American social and political issues. In addition, CSA works to give students the opportunity to serve the greater Boston Chinese community through volunteer work. CSA also offers the "jiating" (which means family) program giving upperclassmen the opportunity to lead small groups of freshmen and sophomores as they integrate into the BC community.
