Tick Talk The list of tick-borne illnesses that can affect dogs is as long as the names are difficult to pronounce, but there’s a handful that deserve most of our attention. Lyme disease is the leader in both familiarity and frequency, but Anaplasma, Ehrlichiosis and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever are also very common in the US — increasingly so in recent years. Visit the link below to bone up on your knowledge of tick borne illness and learn how to better protect your dog this spring and summer. https://bit.ly/3Fu5Xmy #pheasantsforever

Pheasants Fact Friday! The average hen incubates 10 to 12 eggs. At first, she supplies all the heat to maintain eggs at 107 degrees. This gradually diminishes as the embryo develops and increases its own heat production. Eventually, the hen’s function is to insulate the eggs, protect them from predators and rewarm them after and absence. Incubation requires 22 percent of the hen’s heat production. The longer the hen sits on her eggs, the less likely she is to abandon or be forced off the nest. Because of this devotion, mowing or swathing farm fields during later stages of incubation can destroy many hens. #pheasantsforever #pheasantfactfriday #thehabitatorganization

Listen up! Our elected officials have moved forward with this sale of public lands to balance the budget, with no returning benefit to public lands users or the wildlife that call our public lands home. If this passes into law, we would all lose acres, habitat, access, and our voice. Visit the link below to email your representatives or call them at the capitol switchboard right now and tell them selling OUR public lands is not a budget solution; not now, not ever. pheasantsforever.quorum.us/campaign/standforpubliclands2025 #pheasantsforever #quailforever #keepitpublic
