Pheasant Fact Friday While pheasants are finding the winter cover they require, the outdoor temperatures have fallen below the bird's thermoneutral zone. They can no longer simply ruffle their feathers to stay warm....they have to start eating more food. Birds consume 33% more food in November than they did in October. This increased intake is used to both stay warm and produce body fat. These fat reserves will prove beneficial when the first blizzard arrives. Carp, Lark, and the crew are back with another Pheasant Minute as they head out into the first snowfall of the year to chase Iowa roosters. The saying goes “when it snows you gotta go” as we often dream of fresh fluffy flakes and tight holding birds. But as you can see, sometimes reality isn’t quite as romantic. Rumor has it Carp still can’t feel his fingers. Carp’s Pheasant Minute is probably brought to you by onX Hunt #pheasantsforever #thehabitatorganization

This Veterans Day, we pause to honor those whose service shaped not only our nation – but the generations who followed them into the fields and prairies. In “Don’t Miss,” Quail Forever Journal Editor Ryan Sparks shares the story of his grandfather, a WWII tank gunner who returned from war to rural Nebraska and found peace in the rhythms of farming, family, and bird hunting. Three generations later, a Remington Model 11 connects their family through memory, land, walnut and steel. Read the full story now on the Quail Forever Blog: https://bit.ly/483iIQx
