STUDENT FORUM | On Wednesday, students and staff from across the Good Samaritan Education network came together for the Prophetic Voices forum to explore Access to Education for All—showing how Catholic schools are putting faith into action for justice.
From Mater Christi raising $12K for Project Compassion, to St Patrick’s heartfelt ministry at Reiby Youth Justice Centre, and Mt St Benedict’s immersive Caritas Week, each school reminded us that real change starts with love and commitment.
A highlight of the forum was the focus on First Nations education, including reflections from the immersion experience at Santa Teresa last year. This initiative sparked deep conversations around the transformative work of Marist 180, especially with the Daramu Aboriginal Youth Service. Presentations from Arthur Frail challenged us with confronting statistics and inspired us with programs that create real pathways for change through music, mentoring, yarning circles, and joyful experiences that restore dignity and hope.
As Pope Francis said—run toward justice with joy. Education is more than a right—it’s a sacred tool for healing and hope.
This forum reminded us that education is not just a right, but a sacred tool for breaking cycles of poverty and exclusion, especially for our First Nations brothers and sisters.
