PIZZEY CUP | We’re thrilled to share the outstanding news that Year 11 student Eugenie Canavan and Year 10 Caitlin Abela have recently returned from an unforgettable week in Bendigo, where they proudly represented New South Wales at the prestigious Pizzey Cup – the National Schools Tennis Championships. We’re even more excited to report that Team NSW emerged victorious, claiming the national title for the third consecutive year! The Pizzey Cup brings together the top 8 girls and boys from each state, so to have two athletes from St Mary’s on the team is an exceptional achievement and a true reflection of the girls’ talent, dedication, and hard work. Both Eugenie and Caitlin contributed tremendously throughout the week, helping lead their team through seven days of intense, high-level competition. Tennis is often a solo journey, with players managing every aspect of performance alone but the week was about teamwork, resilience, and support, both on and off the court. We couldn’t be prouder of Eugenie and Caitlin for their incredible efforts and for being such inspiring ambassadors for our College and the sport. #StMarysPride #PizzeyCup2025 #NSWChampions #GirlsInSport #TennisAustralia #TeamNSW #StMaryStarOfTheSea
FINALIST | We are so proud to celebrate our amazing Year 12 student, Emily McLeod, who has been named a finalist in the 2025 NSW School-Based Trainee of the Year Award! In partnership with Big Fat Smile, Emily has been making a real difference at Cobblers Hill Community Preschool as a passionate and dedicated School-Based Trainee. From her early days of work placement to now, Emily has brought her heart, humour, and incredible care into every moment of her work with children. 💬 “After my first day at Dapto Community Preschool, I knew early education was the right career for me.” – Emily Emily’s journey began with a simple conversation in Year 10 and it’s grown into a powerful story of purpose, growth, and connection. Her genuine relationships with children, her commitment to learning, and her embodiment of the Big Fat Smile values have all led to this well-deserved recognition. In 2024, Emily was honoured with the Big Fat Smile Values Award and now, she’s being recognised at a state level! Her dream? Finish Year 12, complete her Cert III, and step confidently into a Diploma and full-time work. Congratulations, Emily! #StMaryStarOfTheSeaCollege #BigFatSmile #NSWTraineeOfTheYear #EarlyChildhoodEducation #SchoolBasedTraineeship #CelebratingSuccess #FutureEducator #InspiringYouth
