IWD COLLEGE ASSEMBLY | Today, we continued the #IWD theme at our College Assembly which was launched with a lively rendition of Shania Twain’s song, ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ The performance was led by our talented Year 12 students, Jahzara McCann, Ingrid Giblett, Isabella Hinds and Charlotte Booth which had everyone up off their seats and clapping. The College welcomed a special guest speaker, Angela Saville - Health & Wellness Director at Provum and Founder of The Savvy Community. A true #BossWoman and entrepreneur, Angela has raised over one million dollars for charity through her event, ‘Savvy Survivor’. Angela also shared with us her passion and secret (but perhaps not so secret) of the ‘power of movement’. Her overall message to students – there is space for women to enrich our local Wollongong community. Get out there and get involved with your community in whatever capacity you can and find out what drives you and what you’re good at, because where you use your strengths and talents, you will succeed. Mr Fitzgerald (College Principal) echoed a similar message about the importance of taking action. Surmised through the ‘the stage of life’ metaphor where he said to students, “don’t stay in the crowd, be the main act!” Concluding our Assembly was a beautiful and soulful recreation of Billie Eilish’s song, ‘What Was I Made For?’ #IWD2025 #WomenInLeadership #thesavvycommunity

CELEBRATING IWD | Today, our Year 11 & 12 students had the privilege of hearing from four incredible Alumnae who shared their journeys, challenges, and insights since graduating from St Mary’s. Lucinda Beck , Class of 2014 – A dedicated anaesthetics trainee, blending science with compassionate patient care while pursuing adventures around the world. Dayana Brooke, Class of 1996 – A sustainability advocate and founder of The Sustainable Traveller, working to reshape the travel industry for a better planet. Katelin Koprivec, Class of 2014 – A dynamic actor, singer, and writer making waves in the Australian performing arts scene. Natalie Piucco, Class of 2009 – A leading tech innovator at Google, shaping AI, cloud technology, and the future of digital solutions globally. Each speaker echoed the powerful message: Be brace and bold, say yes to new experiences, be kind and authentic, use your voice, show up in the World as who you are and know that it's okay if your path changes along the way. Their journeys remind us that success isn’t always a straight road, but an evolving adventure filled with growth and discovery. Through engaging stories and a Q&A, our students gained valuable perspectives on resilience, ambition, and the power of education. A huge thank you to our speakers for inspiring the next generation of St Mary’s graduates! Thank you to the students in the Zonta Club for providing a lovely breakfast during Tutor Group. #IWD2024 #WomenInLeadership #StMarysAlumnae #InspiringJourneys
