RUNNAWAY MOMENT | On Monday, 17 February, our Year 12 Indonesian language students went to Sydney for the Nusantara: Spotlight on Indonesia’s Garments event. The evening highlighted the relationship between Indonesia and Australia, collaborating with Indonesian Diaspora Network Australia and fashion designers from all over Indonesia. We invited the Consulate General of Indonesia, Pak Vedi Buana and his wife to attend the event in support of our students. Upon arriving, the students were immersed in Indonesian culture, practicing their language skills, and learning about Indonesian fabrics and traditional/modern clothing.
Originally, we were audience members watching the show however, the night took an exciting turn when our Year 12 students were asked to walk the runway for two of the designers on the night. They participated with great enthusiasm! And two of our students and I were interviewed by the Consulates team about studying Bahasa Indonesia and our understanding of Indonesian culture and batik.
It was an unforgettable experience that boosted our students' confidence, deepened their cultural understanding, and gave them a runway moment they’ll never forget!
