FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL | On 12th of March 2024, Madame Churchward and Years 10 & 11 French students attended a session at Chauvel Cinema Sydney for the annual Alliance Française of Sydney - French Film Festival. This year, the film titled ‘Divertimento’ was selected which was suitable for school students and aligned well with Syllabus topics. The plot also carries an inspirational message for young women. The movie was then followed by lunch at a French café ‘Chex Alex’ in Paddington. Une magnifique journée! #fRENCHfILMfESTIVAL #smc

SCIENCE EXTENSION |Meet our Year 12 students Margaret Olsen, Sofia Decker, and Verity Hiscox, who have embarked on fascinating scientific research projects as part of their course. Here is their first-hand investigations on the following topics: Margaret Olsen explored "Maximising the applicability of single photon emissions from NV Centres via the modification of the excitation power." She conducted her experiment at the University of New South Wales. Sofia Decker delved into "Testing the Ability for Algae to Block Ultraviolet rays," conducting her experiment right here at school in our science labs. Verity Hiscox's project "How Different Sterilisation Techniques Can Affect The Lowered Microbial Load Over An Extended Period Of Time" involved collaboration with Wollongong Hospital, alongside work in our school labs.
