JUNIOR HORIZON | Wednesday 18th October What a wonderful morning of student engagement we’ve had in our HORIZON session yesterday. Year 7 students participated in a fitness program organised by Mr Josh Watson; Healthy Heart, Healthy Head, where they joined in a range of activities to get up and active – and laughing out loud! They enjoyed a healthy snack of ‘crunch & sip’ also. Congratulations to Bashir for earning the most House points for their participation, closely followed by Gibbons. The Year 8 session began with the announcement of the Year 9 House Leaders for 2024. We look forward to formally congratulating this wonderful group of students. Bashir – Madeline Plunkett Foley – Maxine Lavulo Gibbons – Sofia Dawson Hayes – Talia Franklin Kelly – Caitlin Abela Lyons – Addison Everett Sullivan – Lodi Nettle UB – Edwina Jones Year 8 students also engaged in a learning workshop; Unpacking Feedback to Feedforward, to help them maintain a growth mindset. Year 9 had a presentation on ‘The World of Work’ which included some great advice from Ms Krauze, our Post School Advisor, and some Year 11 students about applying for a job and attending an interview. It is great to see so much positive engagement and skill development in learning across a breadth of pastoral and academic areas. Nicole Tyler Dean of Junior School

IN THE CLASSROOM | In Year 7 Start-Up lessons, students have been developing positive learning habits and skills to help them reach their personal goals. This week’s session was about note-taking, and the students brainstormed and practised various methods for writing notes. They finished by nominating whose work was the most effective. The students engaged very well and it was a successful activity on our first ‘Device-Detox Day’ of the term.
