SWAN LAKE LEAD | On Friday, 4 August the Merrigong stage was alive with dancing cattle, and our Year 7 Music classes were lapping up Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake….but with Cows”, an interpretation of this classic ballet as fresh as South Coast milk. Our musical aim was to experience a full live orchestra and they produced a beautiful rich sound to enhance the dancing (the timpani’s were lent by St Mary’s and they pounded with much lactic thunder). The highlight, however, was that the lead dancer, the poor heroine under a spell to spend half her life as a cow, was Avelia Bushell, a talented Year 7 student from St Mary’s. Two hundred of her peers clapped and cheered as she danced magically and with expert poise and skill in this demanding and famous ballet role. #SwanLakeWithCows #MerrigongMagic #Yr7MusicDelight #TchaikovskyTwist #FreshInterpretation #DancingCattle #BalletWonder #AveliaTheStar
