AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVE | Congratulations Jessica Cole who has been selected in the Australian Junior Swim Team (the Junior Dolphins).
During the Easter break, Jessica Cole competed at the 2023 Age National Swimming Championships held on the Gold Coast. Jessica picked up an individual Gold Medal in the 200m Butterfly, an individual Silver Medal in the 100m Butterfly, and also medalled in the relay events. As a result, Jessica was selected in the 2023 Australian Junior Swim Team (the Junior Dolphins) and will now compete at the 2023 World Junior Swimming Championships to be held in Israel from 4 to 9 September,
2023.
The team consists of 30 swimmers aged 18 years or under, who are
the fastest or second fastest in Australia across all events. Jessica will now have the opportunity to compete against the world’s best under 18 swimmers in her pet event, the butterfly. She flies out of the country on 24 August, 2023 to Paphos, Cyprus where she will attend a staging camp for one week. She will then fly over to Netanya, Israel for the Junior World Swimming Championships.
If this achievement was not incredible enough, during the process Jessica
swum the 8th fastest time ever by a 16-year-old Australian female in the 100m Butterfly event. What a star!
On behalf of the entire St Mary’s community, we wish Jessica all the very best of luck as she prepares for this event. Congratulations Jess!
