KABOOM | Our year 7 and elective Music Students had the opportunity to participate in a concert and workshop by Kaboom! Percussion, an Australian performance group who use a mix of percussion instruments and everyday objects to create different rhythms and grooves. The show and workshops were an exciting blend of music and science with a heap of fascinating home-made and recycled percussion instruments. Students were captivated by the many creative instruments, including the Bottlephone and the Thongophone, and then got to try their hand and performing together using drumsticks and body percussion. Making music together using buckets, boxes and kitchen utensils was a great reminder that you don’t need expensive equipment to play music, just a bit of creativity!
