CONGRATULATIONS to our St Mary’s Swimming Squad! Last Friday the girls competed in the Diocesan Swim Carnival with great results. St Mary's won the Girls' point-score and believe it or not, finished 3rd overall which is amazing considering we cannot enter any boys’ events! Jessica Cole broke three records, Ivy Miller and Aya Milton also broke records. The intermediate Relay team broke the 4x50m record in 1:59.12. Swimmers were Aya Milton, Stephanie Staniforth, Ivy Miller and Jessica Cole. Jessica was also the 15yrs Girls Age Champion for the day. Well done to all the girls representing the College.

Congratulations to Isabella Hasna, Year 12, who has won the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award! Zonta is an active and vibrant club at St Mary's. Zonta stands for women's rights, advocating for equality, education and an end to child marriage and gender-based violence.
Year 11 students studying ‘Sport, Lifestyle & Recreation’ have been participating in a unit of work called Outdoor Recreation. In the practical component of this module, students have been provided with opportunities to participate in recreation activities in our local community such as; swimming, stand up paddle boarding and most recently fishing. This week our class was accompanied by Mr Scott Selby who shared his fishing knowledge, expertise and equipment with the students down at Wollongong Harbour. The students were able to catch many fish species such as sweep, yellowtail, mato, leatherjacket, bream, toad fish and diamond fish. Year 11 have certainly developed an appreciation for the thrill of catching and releasing fish!
