My mum and I had a lovely five day stay at Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. Big thanks to Tambate for leading our snorkeling trip, village visit and visit to the Sawailau limestone caves and taking such good care of us (and particularly looking after my mum on the snorkel trip so she didn’t get left behind).
We loved the resort itself and the food and four course dinners were a standout. The chefs were fantastic and curry night was definitely our favourite where we had six or seven curries brought to the table but every meal was delicious. Dinner was always accompanied by singing guitarists Mike and Sola and a kava ceremony.
Auntie Margie and Ulita taught us how to weave baskets and make voi voi bracelets which was another highlight. We weren’t traveling with kids but the kids club made coconut rafts one day and it was fun watching the final race in the restaurant side pool.
We’ve previously stayed at Mana Island, Matamanoa Island, and Mantaray Island but the house reef here was the most easily accessible, very healthy, and was certainly the most diverse in terms of coral. I saw a very cool school of what looked like black squid or cuttlefish. Low tide was beautiful and you could see the sea grass and coral completely exposed. We didn’t go but heard good feedback on the night snorkel on this reef. Also enjoyed hiking up the hills for the amazing views.
The garden villa was lovely and Kitty did a wonderful job keeping everything super clean including the outdoor shower and bathroom. The turndown service each night was a nice touch.
Thank you to everyone above, and also Captain Pete, Peni, Esther, Debbie, Manny, Tima, Langi, Nelson and literally everyone on the island for fantastic service and making our trip so enjoyable and memorable.
Nacula Island itself is home to four villages and about 1,000 people. We liked the size of the island and the number of activities and things to explore. Five days was a perfect length of time for us before heading to another island. And the four hour boat ride meant we got to see nearly all the other Yasawa Islands along the way.
Vinala vakalevu!
