We loved reading that John is a pit bull owner and breed advocate so we thought he would be a great trainer for our extremely sweet but *very* energetic and willful Pittie, Zuko. The constant pulling on leash and reactivity on walks became too much for us to handle by ourselves without a professional.
We’ve only had two sessions with John so far and we are amazed at how quickly we’ve seen a change in both our dog’s behavior and our confidence as owners to take charge of the situation. He understands dog language and had our dog walking calmly next to him within minutes during the first session. He has also provided us with education and tools to compassionately hold the boundary with our dog in a way our dog is responding well to. We were nervous about training as we didn’t know what to expect and had fears about training collars, but we are totally comfortable now and feeling much more empowered after John provided us education about safe, proper, and appropriate use of all training tools.
The progress we’ve made with Zuko thanks to John’s help is truly impressive and it’s just the start. We look forward to continuing our training, getting better each day, and seeing our dog be able thrive to enjoy new adventures in public.

Growing up with a dad as a veterinarian and a mom as a former retrieving/hunting dog trainer in Texas, I was hesitant about using a professional trainer outside the family and in a new state. However, John instantly was able to connect with our pitbull mix, Gordon. From the moment he arrived, I could instantly tell that we were all in excellent hands thanks to John’s years of experience, calm attitude and intelligent demeanor. Even after the very first session, (btw the package sessions are extremely reasonably priced), we could tell a major difference in our dog’s attitude and behavior. John takes his time and effort to make sure that both your dog and you have an intimate understanding of how to properly create a system that yields undeniably positive results. John even allowed us to integrate his lessons to allow us to train our other dog, a wild 3 yr old mini schnauzer, to pick up on some much needed obedience work as well. John and PDK9’s services are truly a necessity even if you’re on the fence about getting your dog(s) properly trained. I would not recommend anyone else. If you’re looking for the absolute best of the best, do yourself a favor and look no further.

John is the man! I called John after I attending a puppy obedience class that I knew wasn't right for my dog. I had a 10-week old GSP and John came for the first session at week 12. I am now approaching our 5th session and with the help of John my dog is focused on the leash, trained on the e-collar and staying/recalling extremely well for 5.5 months. I could not be happier with John and I've learned so much more about the dog in the 2 months we've been working together. I was hoping to have the dog trained off the leash before he turns one and we are way ahead of schedule! John is a real professional.

John is fantastic! He is personable and professional and it’s very obvious he loves and understands dogs and their many personalities. Within the first few minutes of our session, he had our very excitable 18-month-old Boston Terrier, Charlie, obeying his commands and walking on the leash without pulling (YES!!). John, also, makes sure that we understand the process and teaches us the tools we need to continue to reinforce the good behaviors he’s teaching Charlie.

John is awesome. Found him online and liked his reviews. My neighbor actually went to school with him and said he was very good after she found out I hired him. Our pittie Khalessi is 18 months old and semi trained but we need to reign her in a bit and I want to walk her off leash when I am upstate or fishing. We also wanted a fence but were afraid of the shock. Enter John. From the minute he showed, she jumped on him and he instantly had her heeling and obeying him. We worked on walking her with the herme collar without pulling and a few commands. Next visit we put up an efence and worked on that. The third visit, our 2nd official training session, we worked on the fence and ecollar. We did alot in a few short sessions. Still a few training sessions to go but she already knows her boundaries and doesnt leave the property. She could never sit on the front porch and watch the kids play without wanting to join them but now she sits and knows her place. As I sit here there are tons of kids playing and running across the lawn next door and as much as she wants to join them she knows to stay put. She is doing much better on walks and off leash with the collar is keeping her in check. She is a different dog already. She is still a puppy and we have to work on a few things but John is a great trainer and I am confident we will be where we need to be soon. I'm sorry we didn't do the fence sooner. Highly recommend him.

Can’t say enough about John’s professional experience I was at my wits end with my escape artist as he has been in doggie jail twice not to mention I live on a busy road and have people coming in and out of my house and he’s smart if a door isn’t shut right he knows it and is sneaky to he just want to go out and play.
