I go to Austin every six months or so for components because the prices are solid. Love that fact. That said, I always have weird experiences with the staff. Last time I was there the guy had very little knowledge (some things he said were flat out wrong) and this time the guy I dealt with was like dealing with a robot. He seemed to want our interaction to be a fast as humanly possible. Plus, there was a bio hazard bag on the counter. (the kind you use for medical samples at a place like Western Diagnostics) When I asked about it the guy said, “I don’t know why that’s there.” and then ignoring it, just left it on the counter Professionalism zero. If you can do your own research and don’t care about human interaction, go Austin. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

They're what you would expect from a PC component store. No quibbles about their level of knowledge, stock levels or anything like that. In fact, it's quite good in that respect. My only gripe, and probably one that will make me look elsewhere in the future is their warranty return process (or at least the part I experienced). I returned a graphics card that I had bought 4 months earlier that had a broken fan. The policy is to return it to the distributor, who will test it, and either provide a new unit or repair the old one. This process can take 6 weeks! What are you supposed to do in the meantime? Buy another card? Luckily I had another gfx card at home, but I wouldn't want to get caught out like that again. Maybe this is an unfair expectation, and if I don't find another retailer with better policies I will amend this review.

Used to be my go to store but I moved away from Perth and don't go there any more. They were really good though, and their after sales service was excellent.

Helpful reliable advice but you might have to wait a couple of customers to be served as well as waiting at the goods collection area after paying. If you purchase online you can bypass the store and go straight to collection if you print out your purchase form.

Pluses - Good prices, and the technician is polite and helpful. Minus - The sales guys not so much. Out of stock of Windows USB version, so tell me on pick-up that they have DVD OEM, forget to refund the balance. The pick-up guy told me the issues, which I then had to go and see the staff about, who were a bit disinterested. Sales less helpful on other occasions too. Go there for the good prices, but if you're not too knowledgeable with computers (and would like some help) maybe go elsewhere.

Pricing is really good, as good as anywhere in Perth, but counter service is often poor and slow. If you know what you want and check availability online before going into the store, you will have a better experience.

Ok prices, MSY is generally cheaper. Customer service during busy periods ilis not good. 1 star for being one of the few shops open during the Christmas and New Year break.

Comparative prices with online retailers, but rude and often ignorant staff.

Pricing is decent here & though efficient the staff could be a bit more engaging. Don't expect a reply off the email on the website though. It's better to call

Small shop, but they try. Pricing is fairly firm.

I've found them to have typical pricing or if you do your research, you can find better pricing generally. I've had some bad service from staff before, I'm not sure if this was out of lack of capability or another reason. Wasn't quick to work through the situation. Treat it not as a typical store but more of a place where PC parts, peripherals and such can be ordered from a warehouse if you're already aware of what you want. That's basically what Austin Computers is, don't expect much help from the staff or a huge selection of computing items in-store. Go there with a product set in mind you want to buy, pay at the counter and then wait at the side warehouse usually whilst they fetch it for you. Customer service is limited. I wouldn't recommend them if you're looking for knowledgeable staff who're able to help you get a new (custom) computer. For that, the only local store I've found with capable staff who know their trade are PLE, whom also offer more services.

Good points they guy behind the counter is really nice, funny, happy the way a sales person should be. As far as Press 1 for sales when I tried to phone them before coming down.. WTF ended up in Philippines. What was meant to be a quick conversation to see if a computer was in stock, ended up in a tug of war with someone who had no idea what they were doing. I think Austin have just hired people in the Philippines to look at the same website that the public looks at and have no communication with the store or what goes on in it.

It takes longer to move a small item from their Bibra Lake to their Osborne Park store than it takes to ship the same item from Brisbane to Perth to my door. I ordered two Ubiquiti UDM on the same day one from Austin and one from Computer alliance in qld, qld one came two days after. After calling austin like everyday, the item was finally "available to pick up" 3 days later. I even offered to go it pick it up from the Bibra Lake store, but no it cannot be done apparently.

Not super stoked. Had to buy ram from here as it was the only one left that I wanted. I called the store and asked to have it set aside which the guy on the phone did. Went into the store and asked to pick it up and the guy at the counter said that there was nothing ready. I said I was certain I called the correct store. Ended up having to pursue the issue myself and asked another worker who was doing stocktake about the order. He instantly found the part I needed and brought it out. So a good ending but didnt appreciate the lack of care or respect from the sales desk.
