Overall, the experience was very good. The product that they sell is definitely well designed and built. And the end result looks great and we love sitting under the pergola. The only downside was that the 4X4s that we purchased from the Home Depot were pressure treated, and thus still damp and expanded. I had to chisel down the ends to get them to fit into the brackets, and as a result, it took me a lot longer than the 45 minutes that they said it would take to assemble the pergola. But, as I said, we love the look of it, and it is definitely worth the cost and effort to assemble it.

I found that using the black wood screws were better. I used 2 duct lifters in echo end. Was a great benefit to use

Excellent product for handy individuals looking for an "affordable" alternative to a full contractor build. The 6x6 brackets are great for our windy area. This thing is rock solid. The plastic covers did pop off a lot of the screws but a dab of some clear silicone is an easy solution to make it work. If going the diy route be aware that sanding and staining lumber is very time consuming but well worth the effort. We are very happy with the final product.
