If I could give lower then one star I would. My wife and I went in to shop for a new Sorento. We had a quote from another dealership in writing, and Grand said they would match it, same monthly payment over same duration. After test driving a new car, they moved us into the Buick side, made us wait for 10 min, then came back with a quote that put our payments over $100 per month higher. I told them it made no sense for them to do that, when I had a quote from the dealer in Boulder. The sales guy went away and cam back with a new quote, still 50 dollars a month higher and again I reiterated that what they were doing made no sense when I could drive 22 miles from there, get the exact vehicle for the monthly payments we wanted for the duration we were comfortable with (72 months). The sales guy went away and came back, said they talked with the owner, and they agreed they would match the TERMS of the other dealership so we agreed. Then we waited another hour while waiting for their finance person and by this time, we so tired and hungry....but they finally got our paperwork ready. We breezed through it all, the finance person went over our sales contract and pointed out our monthly payments were the same as what we wanted and my wife an I signed everything. The finance person asked if they could shop around with local banks or credit unions to get a BETTER financed deal (we were already approved for Kia's best rate) would we be okay with that, and we said "sure" and signed an approval for them to do that.
We left, and felt drained, hungry, a little tired, but overall happy with the actual vehicle.
The next day, is I was putting out paperwork away, I noticed to my complete horror that my wife and I signed a finance agreement that set our payments for the price that we wanted...but they put in at 75 months...not the 72 months we verbally agreed to! NOW I will say right here...this was 100% the fault of my wife and I for not more closely reading ALL the terms of the finance contract in detail before we signed. We were so tired after a 5 hour ordeal in total and so hungry we just assumed when the salesman said "We will match the terms of your other quote", that meant everything and we just focused on our monthly payment. So the fault is our for our lapse in concentration....but I feel that Grand Kia lied to us and we let them get away with it. When I went in to complain to the sales manager, he tried to explain to me that we actally got the car for a better price, and that if we had a large sum of money lying around and paid it full vehicle off today, it would be for a better price. Absolutely amazing! I reiterated my point that...we don't have 40 K just laying around, that's why we financed, and no matter how they tried to spin it, at the end of 72 months from the other dealer, we would be paid off....and now....having bought from them....we are paid off at 75 months. At the end of the day, we will be paying $1500 more then we should be. There was nothing we can do, because again my wife and I signed the contract willingly, but I still feel they lied to us and I told them we would never be buying from Grand again.
To add insult to injury, we have been waiting for our financing documents forever, and yesterday we got a packet of stuff from some fly by night credit union I have never heard of. I surmised they must have "located" (or sold) our financing to a local credit union for a lower rate. Maybe there was at least a silver lining. I opened everything and sure enough, it was for our new car....however the terms were identical to what we would have been paying to Kia finance. I was livid because now I have to set up a process to link my current checking account to this other back ally credit union to facilitate a monthly reoccurring payment....when if we were dealing with Kia, I could have just added her car to our existing account that our other Kia is under! Now to be fair, would I be complaining if they got me a better rate? No....however they sold (with our approval) our information to another credit union (I'm sure they got compensation for it) while giving us absolutely no advantage, so now I feel lied to AND used. Take my advice, shop for your Kia (the actual vehicle is awesome) at Fischer Kia in Boulder and AVOID these thieves. I will NEVER buy from them again! I'm so glad we just got our survey from Kia last night.....
