We rented the green camper in early June. The staff is very easy going. Airport pickup was a breeze. The ride to their office was short. It was nice to pick through the free section before heading out. The campers are very basic but they have everything you need. Ours came with a three inch sleeping pad to cover the “well loved” bed. We rented the French press but I would recommend bringing a plastic pour over because the press only made one small cup at a time. We also rented the inverter and it worked great for our phones, watches and iPad. The GPS worked great, even in the middle of nowhere. Just beware it tries to take you down dirt roads sometimes and dirt roads in Iceland are nothing like dirt roads in the US! (They are more like switchback, cliff side roads in the Rockies.) With the way the campgrounds are in Iceland, we only cooked inside our camper two times. When we did, we would open the slider door on the driver side and stand outside. The bins made it easy to cart our food and cookware inside the campground kitchens. We never used the water or sink because we used the campground kitchen. The fridge is an electric cooler. It held our food and beer for the week and kept everything cold. The curtains made it dark enough to sleep in the south. In the north we had to use eye masks because it never really got dark. We used the heater a couple of times to warm it up before bed. Then shut it off before we fell asleep and it kept us warm all night. I liked having the front be open to the back so you didn’t have to go outside to get into the back. We kept our bed open the entire time to save time setting it up and taking it down every day. I brought a moisture absorbing bag and that helped not have any humidity build up in the mornings. Checkout was easy and fast. Highly recommend renting here!
