My first experience at True Food was delicious. It was a Saturday evening and with the suggestion of my darling, we booked a dinner reservation. She had experienced True Food Kitchen in KOP on a few occasions but I had resisted for some time as I thought it to be nothing more than a salad place. I admit I was wrong.
I'm not saying that you can't get a salad, but it's much more than that. It was a tough decision as I contemplated what I thought to be 3 tempting plates... Lasagna, Grass fed burger (which to my surprise doesn't mean a veggie burger but a good actual burger), and Roasted Chicken Parm. We started with Brussels sprout (tender and flavorful with only a dash of spicy kick) and blackened cauliflower which was very nicely prepared and delicious.
She had the Sea Bass while I went with the Roasted Chicken Parm. My mom had cooked Italian dishes for many years, learning from my dads Napolitan sisters as they prepared pasta all day every Sunday. Although I didn't expect much from the chicken dish, I was delightfully surprised from my first bite. Juicy, tasteful and filling. It nestled atop tender green beans and made a believer of True Food Kitchen out of me.
Presentation was fresh and service was attentive and pleasant. The atmosphere was clean, open, and smart. The hum of conversation was the right tone to enjoy conversation at our table without hearing or being annoyed by others. Seating was somewhat spaced between neighboring tables.
Yes, I would stop by again to try the other dishes and give 'healthy', another try.
