Chinedu Opara
It was my first time dining here, just following my buddy & his new friend. I had a cup of fresh apple cider, as well as the chicken and sausage sandwich, which came with some sweet potato "fries". To no one's surprise, the sandwich was QUITE bland, while the fries had a tiny bit of flavor at least. I had to ask for ketchup and hot sauce, which helped the meal a lot.
The apple cider was clearly fresh and authentic, living up to the "True Food" concept. Probably the best fresh apple cider I've had in ages.
The service was decent enough, and the servers seemed efficient if not necessarily super-friendly or entertaining. True Food Kitchen is family-friendly, and the layout/ambiance was good enough for the clientele (I'll let you guess who their main clientele are ).
This place is not inexpensive. I paid $21 for the simple meal (not including tip)... A price which would NOT have been worth it if not for the "fresh-made, slow food" promise. I know fresh/slow costs more... But would it kill them to add some damn curry, nutmeg, or hot sauce to their sandwich? Maybe some delicious peanut sauce? Am I asking too much?
If I ever visit True Food Kitchen again, I'll update this review, and maybe add a star if I have a better dining experience.
Edit on March 4, 2020:
Seems the management actually reads and responds to reviews. Community Engagement is worth an extra star (which I just added to my original review). Next time I visit, I'll be sure to ask for something more flavorful. Thanks again for responding to my review!
