Sam Ivy is the place to go if you are considering dog training! I am currently in the advanced on-leash program with my 2 rescue dogs - Bruges & Palmer. I am training with our trainer, Haley, via zoom which has been a surprisingly positive experience. Whereas it would've taken the dogs too long to calm down if Haley came here in person, we can jump right in each session without excess energy or excitement so we get way more value for the cost of the program. And believe me, regardless of being on zoom, Haley effectively corrects my form and sees their nuanced behavior way better than I thought possible. Haley is always positive every session - even when I get frustrated - and I look forward to sharing our progress and showing off the hard work we put into practice.
Bruges - a 4 year old pointer mix - had terrible destructive behavior due to anxiety prior to starting the program. Anything from thunderstorms to noises easily overlooked could spark her anxiety. Palmer - a 2 year old catahoula mix - was not well socialized prior to coming to live with us this year, stubborn, & was exceedingly difficult to walk without pulling. Both would bark excessively when someone was at the front door or simply walking by. No matter how much research & reading I did - I was largely unsuccessful at effectively solving these issues with them. I had an incredible amount of guilt & felt like an awful dog mom. Sam Ivy helped me identify the root cause of their respective issues, how to better communicate with them, and gave me the medium through which to grow and learn alongside them as they advanced. It is almost unbelievable the change I have seen in them! Bruges no longer has destructive tendencies when anxious & Palmer is nothing but a gentleman now in addition to the numerous other skills they have garnered.
Prior to starting the program, the behavior consultant - Brett - scheduled time to speak with me in detail about the issues I wanted to address with my dogs & our goals beyond their core issues. He recommended the ideal program, was transparent about pricing, and set us up with trainer Haley. Sam Ivy ordered & shipped me the supplies needed for the program within a few days of enrolling. I definitely recommend their program to anyone looking to address problem behaviors or simply looking for some extra mental stimulation & skill development for their dogs!

I just finished my intermediate on leash training with my pup and I could not say enough great things about this program! We worked with Emily who was so supportive and consistent! I came to Sam Ivy because my 1 year old Mini Goldendoodle was extremely vocal on walks and when company would come over, additionally she was beginning to nip at kids which were both very frustrating to me! I had tried working with other trainers and felt like we weren’t making any progress. I came across Sam Ivy after starting to feel defeated, and after reading the very current reviews I called to schedule a free consultation. With the help of Emily and this training Maple has become a different dog! When company comes over she now is much more welcoming, and walks have become so much more enjoyable! I am so happy with the progress Maple has made and I am able to bring her to more public places as I have become so much more confident in her behavior. I am so grateful to Sam Ivy and would absolutely recommend this program!!

After a few changes in our living situation, my almost-two-year-old Bahamian Potcake, Norah, began engaging in unpredictable acts of aggression towards both unfamiliar and familiar dogs over food, toys, territory, and attention. For the safety of all humans and canines involved, Norah began wearing a muzzle, and I decided to look into training. Two of my friends recommended Sam Ivy, so I set up a consultation.
Enzo handled the consultation (via Zoom), and thoroughly explained their process, answered all of my questions, emailed some literature, and recommended a specific program based on what I told him about Norah.
A month or so later, Norah and I began working with our trainer Gina. The entire program is done virtually, with Gina training ME on how to train Norah. Virtual training worked great for me, because it enabled me to schedule around work. Additionally, it worked well for Norah, because it placed me solely in the “Alpha” role- which was what Norah needed. I don’t think a board and train would’ve been as effective for me or Norah.
Almost as soon as Norah began training, the frequency of her aggression episodes significantly decreased. We haven’t had any issues at all recently, but if she does become aggressive in the future, I now have the tools and the confidence to handle the situation (thanks to Gina and Sam Ivy).
Finally, I cannot praise Gina enough for her knowledge, positive attitude, patience, and flexibility. In the middle of the program, I broke my wrist and had to have surgery. Knowing the importance of maintaining continuity (for Norah), she worked with me to reschedule my sessions and adapted the training to accommodate my cast.
