I booked a place through VRBO which was managed by Big Bear Vacations. The day of our trip we got a call that there were plumbing issues with our rental and so they put us in a different place. Unfortunately, the new place was very sub-standard when we arrived. However, after a few phone calls we spoke with a manager named Kim and she was extremely helpful and really cared about making sure we were satisfied. We ended up in a really great cabin for our stay. Suffice it to say that during these Covid times, the weekend getaways with the family are limited and extremely important. Kim made it happen for our family.

This was the ONLY vacation rental that offered overnight Horse facilities.
Like most equestrians, we were more concerned about where our horses would stay, than where we would stay. The horse facilities were great! Big pastures, two big round pens and probably 20 available stalls. Plus, you can ride right out their back gate, into the mountains.
Trying to escape the heat and madness in LA, until these shut downs are stopped. Super quiet and pastoral. The weather was perfect (about 72 most of the day).
Like I said, the house wasn't that important to us. We were just glad we didn't have to camp! House is dated, but has all of the conveniences like dishwasher, gas stove, washer/dryer and a new Master Bath with great big shower! Lots of space for horse trailers to turn around without backing up.
It's a 4 bed, 2 bath, but it can easily sleep 10 people. Nice and airy with the windows open. Loved the back deck too. Could sit outside and have drinks while watching the sun set behind the mountains. Close to town, so we went dancing at Wyatt's. GREAT WEEKEND OVER ALL!!!! It's a gorgeous property!

Had a great family trip. The cabin was perfect, clean and well kept. The staff service was professional and the communication was excellent. We will use them again for our next Big Bear adventure.

Online registration is user friendly and accurate. The staff is friendly and efficient. We loved our cabin-it was wonderful to have a safely fenced yard for my two dogs to play in. The property has easy access to all the fun things to do in town and is comfortable and off the beaten path.

Everything about my stay at Bear Castle was marvelous. My family was shocked on the service that was provided, I got double booked on one sit and they put me into the most beautiful place.

We rented 1903 - Alpenhorn Lodge for 4 days and 3 nights for a total of 16 people. Our stay was amazing! The cabin was beautiful and was more then accommodating for the amount of people who went. It had a full kitchen with every pan and utensil that you could imagine. The ten person jacuzzi worked out for both the adults and the kids, not to mention every bedroom had a bathroom with a shower and a jacuzzi spa tub! Amidst the chaos, this little vacation did wonders. Thank you big Bear vacations for being so awesome!

EDITING JULY 2020: Wanted to say that we have used Big Bear Vacations 4 times now, and have rented cabin #104 a second time and we WILL use them again. They worked VERY well with me when we needed to cancel a reservation last minute in 2019. They were able to re-rent out the cabin so I wasn't out any money and got a full credit. They were always professional. I highly recommend!
I rented a Lakeview cabin, last minute, for my husband's birthday (June 28-29, 2018). We stayed in cabin #104. The price was VERY reasonable. The cabin was so cute and exactly how it was pictured online. I didn't read reviews until AFTER I booked it, so I was definitely nervous. I checked out the whole cabin, sheets included, as soon as I entered. Everything was clean, orderly, and just what I'd expect from an older style cabin. It was everything I was looking for.
My children loved that there was a swing set, pool/jacuzzi, and a ping pong table right outside (we utilized all of it). The fridge & freezer kept our food very cold. Hot & cold water in the shower was on point. We had a nice view of the lake and were able to watch the sunset from the picnic table & patio chairs on the front porch. I appreciate that there was a box fan provided, because I have a rough time sleeping without a fan. We slept much better in those beds than we do at home, lol.
While checking in, the staff members were super nice & professional. I have some friends who are Big Bear residents, and the staff gave me an extra parking pass so they could visit.
My husband was talking about the "next time we rent one of these cabins" before we even left. My 4 year old said he wanted to live there forever. We will definitely be back, and hopefully we will bring some family to rent cabins next to one another. You exceeded my expectations. Thank you!
And a side note: my husband is disabled due to a motorcycle accident. The cabin, as well as the outside area, was very accessible to someone with a cane/walker. But if he were still in his wheelchair, this particular cabin wouldn't have worked for us due to the porch step and cabin size. That is NOT a negative to the property; that is just something to think about if you are renting with someone who may need assistance

I stayed here for two nights at the cozy hollow 1890 and it was just wonderful. Only downside is that it doesn't have A/C it got a little hot at night. But the location was very convenient, walking distance to the village and to the lake.

Took a little get away with my daughter for her high school graduation. What a perfect cabin to create memories. I was a little concerned to travel during the pandemic, but the cabin was sparkling clean. We had a little trouble connecting to wifi, but the tech came out and hooked up us right away.

Must visit if you live in Southern California. The scenery changes from dry sunny Cali to mountain like Colorado

It was a great cabin centrally located In a very nice residential area but still enough to feel isolated like you were in the mountains. Finch was close to everything that was important. Cabin big enough for a small family and had a great deck to have awesome bbqs. The-only thing that didn’t work well was the bathroom sink. All else was in working order. We would stay there again in a heartbeat

Booked cabin early June and did not disappoint! We stayed the week before the 4th. The house was super cozy and comfortable. Patio area needed some cleaning and they came out right away. Definitely recommend Big Bear Vacations for fun get away!

We had a wonderful experience with Big Bear Vacations! Shashina was so helpful and got us into an affordable and handicap friendly cabin that had a beautiful golf course view. We originally booked an air bnb that turned into a disaster, so we this was a last minute booking and she got us into the adorable cabin at bear golf inn! Service and the cabin was all amazing! The stay was really nice we enjoyed every moment of it the only thing was the last day we realized the washer didn't work good it wouldn't spin so we had soaked clothes but other then that we liked our stay and would gladly go through Big Bear Vacations again ..

I just have to share that Big Bear Vacations have great customer service, and are a very professional run business. I will definitely book another cabin in the future with them. I will explain why they have great customer service. Upon arrival, our schedule reversed cabin had plumbing problems which we had no control of. We thought our vacation was over, so we called the front desk attendant and explained that we where very unhappy about the situation. After we had spoke to the front desk attendant, she responded quickly to move us to another cabin. We expected a one bedroom cabin as we had reserved, but to our amazement she put us up in a 2000 square foot cabin, pet friendly, with a jacuzzi, and game room. The cabins name is 1149-All About Fun. We hope to bring the whole family next year. It was Awesome!!!! Our continued vacation was complete with enjoyment and relaxation!!!! Thank you Deserae!!!! We plan to stay here again in the future!!!
