As a photographer I was very impressed with how Micato curated my custom safari. My safari director John Scorpio (who travelled with me the entire 10 days) knew what I needed before I did. Chelsea Tipp, the safari planner who designed the safari was paying attention. She honed in on every one of my requests. It was a truly elevated experience where I got to call all the shots with expert guidance. I think John must be a magician because that kind of attention and service is rarely seen in any industry. The animals we tracked were amazing. The knowledge from John and our local guides was impressive. And my accommodations were 10 stars (if that was a thing). Absolutely perfect and so comfortable yet you still felt an amongst nature and wildlife. I HIGHLY recommend Micato. They are pricey but worth every penny. They also give back generously to their community. Which I got to see first hand. A class Act.

On June 22, our family of eleven—six adults and five grandchildren ages 6 to 12—returned from an unforgettable 13-day private safari in East Africa with Micato Safaris. My wife and I had been on three previous safaris and had always dreamed of sharing this experience with our entire family. We waited until our youngest grandchild was close to Micato’s minimum age of six, and then began planning what we hoped would be a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We knew Micato had a reputation for being the best, so our expectations were very high. Somehow, Micato exceeded them all. By the end of the trip, every member of our family agreed it was “the best trip ever.” Our Safari Specialist, Leigh Rice, created a perfect itinerary with three camps—one in Kenya and two in Tanzania. Each camp was unique and memorable, and the combination of adventure, luxury, beautiful scenery, and incredible wildlife was exactly right for our family. What truly sets Micato apart, however, is its people. We were greeted in Nairobi by our Safari Director, Wesley, who stayed with us throughout the entire journey, including our flights between camps. He was an outstanding guide, a wonderful storyteller, and someone whose warmth, knowledge, and sense of humor enhanced every day of our trip. Our Concierge, Eve, met us at the beautiful Hemingways Hotel in Nairobi. Her smile, energy, and attention to every detail immediately put us at ease. The grandchildren quickly adored both Wesley and Eve, and so did the adults. By the end of the safari, they felt more like family than hosts. Our Driver/Guides were equally impressive. Their knowledge of the wildlife and their ability to find animals were remarkable, but what we appreciated most was how much fun they were to spend time with. Every Micato team member we encountered was professional, caring, and committed to making our experience exceptional. The wildlife was spectacular. The camps were beautiful. The memories will last a lifetime. But it was the people of Micato who made this trip so special. We cannot recommend Micato highly enough.

We just completed a month long, six-country tour in Africa with Micato Safaris. From our very first contact, Micato fully accommodated our interests and delivered an end-to-end experience that exemplified customer service, teamwork and flawless execution. Our safari Leaders and Guides possessed superior knowledge and skills, which enabled a world-class experience that exceeded every one of our already high expectations. We had unbelievable access to wildlife; enjoyed outstanding accommodation; engaged and learned so much from and about the local people we met; and acquired a long list of incredible memories that we will never forget. Micato Safaris has earned our highest level of recommendation.

Fantastic experience, a bit cautious as extremely late booking for Kenya Jun. 2026. Meg at Micato went above and beyond everything confirmed, private Safari Director, driver, fantastic romantic surprises, Angama and Segera. Meg even confirmed "Birds Nest" Segera. Personal attention from arrival till departure a wonderful last day planned in Nairobi museums, galleries, shopping, lunch at Talisman superb escorted service to our flight. Experience was perfection and we saw the big five! Thanks Micato for our "once in a lifetime Honeymoon". Precision planning, constant follow-up during safari, pampering till we boarded our return flight for us it was easy, fun, relaxing, memories made for Micato hours of behind the scenes planning. Asante sana, Kwaheri ya kuonana ! Thank you, till we meet again.

My wife and I just returned from Micato African Splendor -- Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Kenya, and Tanzania. Micato took care of details so smoothly we had to pause and consider our experience versus other travelers. An escort greeted us at the jetway in Cape Town and escorted us through immigration, etc, then handed us off to our Micato Guide and Driver outside security. Similar in Victoria Falls and Nairobi. Micato arranged with companies cleared for behind security to provide escort for us. We were escorted to extremely short-line immigration booths marked for UN Delegates and Airline Crew. Processed without the slightest question or comment about it. We just tagged along as our escorts took care of luggage carts, luggage, taking us to each station, etc. Our escort always knew where to go and what to do. We only read airport signs out of curiosity, not necessity. Departures were similar. Our Micato Guide escorted us to a point then somebody cleared for behind security took over. The exception was Cape Town where our Guide escorted us as far as security. The gates are immediately after security, so easier than large US airports. Our Guide told us which way to go after security then waited and kept an eye on us until we had cleared security and waved goodbye. For all departures, our Guide and Driver remained at the airport until our flight departed. Micato made sure they were there to help if anything went wrong. Departing Victoria Falls for Nairobi, Micato arranged a lounge to which we were escorted. Departing Nairobi for home on British Airways, so we were escorted to the British Airways lounge. The same Guide remained with us for all East Africa. On bush flights he flew with us. Bush flights are small aircraft (often 14 seats) which don’t adhere tightly to schedules. This is another place where Micato shines. Our Guide dealt with delayed flights and kept the destination driver and hotel updated. We sat back, followed his lead, and appreciated his taking care of it all. We observed other tourists getting confused and trying to navigate the situations on their own. I watched our Guide greet and be greeted by bush flight baggage handlers like old friends. If we were stalled in immigration lines, etc, airline staff would seek out our Guide to deliver updates, boarding passes, etc. In one instance some airline paperwork for immigration got mixed up. Our Guide sorted it out. Imagine being on your own and having to deal with it. We received special attention at the larger hotels like the Four Seasons in Serengeti. Managers would make sure everything was okay when they’d spot us around the lobby or restaurants. At the small boutique accommodations everyone received the best service. On safari drives, the Driver seemed a bit more attentive to positioning the vehicle for the best view. Both during and between drives our Driver was finding out which animals had been spotted where. Still be prepared for “adventure.” Micato provides luxury everywhere, but safari drives are not in luxury stretch limos. The safari vehicles are rugged to survive the roads. There is a lot of “African Massage” – jostling around on bumpy dirt roads. There can be occasional dust from other vehicles. This will be true of touring with any company. Bush planes are an adventure for those only used to big jets. Pilots still tried to make sure the ride was smooth. The difference was the tightness of the plane interior. Bush flights were not too long and the view was great. Discount safari companies spend very long days driving between locations, partially on the same bumpy dirt safari roads. We’d definitely return to Micato’s Africa but other locations beckon for now. We had been questioning whether we’d do India because we’re very adverse to big crowds, etc. After experiencing Micato in Africa, we’re thinking Micato is our solution for India.
