Took Micato Safari African Splendor Safari in Sept 2022. The trip was truly outstanding. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. They really went out of their way to make sure the trip was an outstanding experience. We received a very informative packet as we prepared for our trip and the local, Micato Travel personnel answered any questions that we had. We were escorted from the time we landed in Capetown, (they met us inside security as we stepped off the plane) and someone stayed with us until we departed to the airport at 9PM, to return home 17 days later. They helped prioritize us with all the Passport checkpoints, handled all luggage movement, and ensured our paperwork was completed accurately, for the various countries/flights. The varied accommodations, food, services and staff at the resorts were top notch! Beautiful, unique properties and gourmet meals. A memorable experience. The guides went out of their way to make sure we had the best animal viewing experience and were very attentive and helpful throughout our trip. Cannot thank them enough for making our trip a memorable one! Micato had told us that going in Sept would be a great idea...crowds were minimal, weather was 70-80 degrees (no rain), foliage was not too dense so it was easier to see wildlife, minimal amount of bugs. PERFECT! The game drives and landscape views cannot be described ....unique, beautiful ,and exciting. Being in a small group was certainly a huge benefit for the game drives. We paid for the optional Balloon tour......and highly recommend it! A SUPER experience that ended with a brunch and cocktails, after we landed. The Capetown area tour was very informative/beautiful and the winery visits were wonderful. We were a party of 2 and were teamed up with 4 other travelers which made for a great, "personalized" experience! We travel a lot but thought of this trip to be a unique, "trip of a lifetime" and it certainly was...in every aspect. Even though we had to "pack light" there was no problem getting laundry done everyday. In fact, many of the locations would do same day laundry, if needed. One suggestion/heads up: The MIcato luggage is a great piece of luggage but it weighs almost 10lbs. While you can leave some of your belongings behind as you depart for the "bush" portion of the trip and retrieve them later, with a 32lb limit for all that you carry into the bush portion of the trip, we elected to use our own duffle bags (weighed less than 1 lb) and 2 backpacks. The light/sturdy duffle bags worked out very well. On the other hand, the group of 4 that we traveled with, used the Micato luggage and left some items behind to be retrieved later, and it worked out well for them. I cannot recommend Micato enough. The Micato employees and staff at the resorts were extremely helpful, friendly and "over the top" service oriented.
