BEST VACATION EVER! To anyone reading this review while pondering whether or not to go on a Micato safari, ponder no more. This is the safari you should go on; Micato will treat you like royalty. They meet you at the airport, get you through the Visa/Immigration line, carry your luggage and quite literally do anything and everything to ensure that you have the most memorable safari vacation of your life. My husband and I went on their Grand Safari through Kenya and Tanzania, late Oct thru early Nov 2025. The weather was perfect. Only one day had an hour or two of rain and that was when we were inside for lunch! Titus (aka Tito) was our guide throughout our safari and he was fantastic. Informative, so knowledgeable, helpful and kind. Just a great person. The drivers for each of game drives differs at each location, but all are Micato staff and equally as knowledgeable. And fun! Eve, our concierge for the entire trip, was always ready to handle whatever might come our way above and beyond expectations (more on that later, and this part of our story is incredible. Read on!). We started in Nairobi at stayed at the Hemingway hotel. Fabulous! My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and the bed in our beautiful room was covered with rose petals. (On our actual anniversary, the whole kitchen staff serenaded us with song and dance! We were overcome with emotion!). Before beginning the actual safari, we visited the Karen Blixen (aka Isak Dinesen) home and the Giraffe Center before being treated to lunch. Even the meals are memorable! But the camps and lodges you will stay at on the game reserves are even more memorable. A “tent” is actually a very large luxurious room with all the amenities (especially the Bateleur Camp!) and often with views of giraffes, zebras, elephants and even visiting warthogs and/or baboons on your deck! We visited Amboseli, Laikipis Plateau, Maasai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll take a 12-seat plane to these areas, and the planes often fly low enough to see multitudes of wildlife out the windows. So, what are the daily game drives like? Well…unbelievable! Most often you’ll do a morning drive and a later afternoon (“golden hour”) drive, sometimes broken up by a “picnic” lunch on the reserve. These picnics are not sandwiches and cookies, but grand BBQs by a team of local chefs and waitstaff. And actually, following our early morning hot air balloon ride over Maasai Mara, they arranged a beautiful, huge breakfast for us as we delighted in watching a giraffe family about 300 yards from us going about their day. Absolutely EVERYTHING is planned by Micato to ensure you have the trip of a lifetime. And we did! When asked by Tito and our driver prior to a game drive, “What do you want to see today?”, we’d answer with “lions” or “cheetahs” and - seriously - they’d look through their binoculars or get on the radio and within a half hour or less, we were snapping photos of lions/cheetahs. And often these animals were close enough to us that we didn’t need a telephoto/zoom lens. Honestly, we cannot praise Micato and the whole team enough. My husband and I also pondered taking a Micato safari - for 15 years! - and we are so happy we did! As a matter of fact, we plan to take another one. Yes, it’s more costly than others, but (and I don’t say this tritely), it is worth every penny. You will not regret it, we can promise you that! Now to how Micato goes above and beyond no matter what: our safari was over and we were driven to the airport to go home. As my husband lifted our bag onto the check-in scale, I stepped back and tripped over someone’s bag. I fell HARD. Broke both my wrists and displaced both radius bones. Tito and Eve rode in ambulance with us to ER and stayed 5 hours with us. While there, Eve rebooked our flights and got us a hotel for that night. Nice! They both brought us back to the airport the next night and have been kind enough to keep in touch w me throughout my recovery. We’re still in touch with them now. Incredible! Travel with Micato. TRIP OF A LIFETIME!

This trip was truly amazing, from the way it starts with how we learn about the people and way of life to the safari’s and ending with both excitement and relaxation. Your highly qualified staff starting with Julius and ending with Heather whom went above and beyond and loved what they were doing I can never truly thank them enough. Again I thank you and all staff members my deepest appreciation. Bev

I traveled with Micato Safaris in Kenya this December, and the experience truly blew me away. I call it Micato Magic—because every single detail is handled so seamlessly that all you have to do is wake up and be ready for greatness. From the moment we landed, Micato was there waiting for us right on the tarmac with a private transfer, fast-tracking us through immigration when we were exhausted from travel. That level of care set the tone for the entire trip. One of the highlights was our Micato Safari Director (ours was Peter—who seems to be friends with everyone in Kenya ). Having a Safari Director throughout the journey provided consistency across camps. He perfectly supplemented the camp guides, added depth to our experience, and was an absolute delight to travel with. I also had dietary restrictions, and every single meal was handled flawlessly—thoughtful, delicious, and stress-free. The staff and guides at each camp were warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. I learned so much on this trip and felt genuinely cared for everywhere we went. Micato’s concierge service is next level—whether it’s big requests or small ones (like running out to get socks we forgot to pack!). Including laundry made packing light effortless, and having all gratuities included removed any stress so we could just fully enjoy the safari. And then there’s the wildlife—wow. Every day felt special, and every day brought something new. We were consistently placed in the perfect position for game viewing, and they even went out of their way to find beautiful birds for me.

Micato Safaris knows how to provide an elevated, smooth, and memorable safari experience to even an experienced traveller! My 4th safari adventure, and new to Micato Safaris, proved to be an elevated, carefree safari experience I will never forget. The little details and touches along the way made each experience even better. The lodges they chose for me, the incredible food everywhere we went, was better than I'd ever had in Africa. The fabulous guides, our personal safari director, Peter, not only beloved by me and my fellow travelers but also every staff member we encountered along the way, were above par and exceptional. Want to feel like a VIP every step of the way? Micato Safaris. I would recommend them to anyone new or seasoned to Africa and safaris and cannot wait to travel with them again!
