BEST DISCO EVER // Last night our Junior School Disco was a great success, with some students calling it “the best disco ever”! STUDY CLUB // While our Year 12 students have been doing their HSC exams since last week, our Year 7 to 10 students are busy preparing for their Yearly Exams in Week 4. Many students have been using our Study Club held in the Library on Monday and Wednesday afternoons after school to do focused study and to receive individual assistance from the teachers who volunteer their time at Study Club. Remember, regular study for short periods of time is more effective than long periods of "cramming" the night before an exam. If you have 90 minutes available for study, do focused work for 25 minutes then have a 5 minutes break, and then repeat this for the rest of your allocated time. #mamrelearning

YEAR 2 CELEBRATION OF LEARNING // Year 2 have been learning about living things and their habitats. After their excursion to Sydney Zoo, students designed their very own zoos and more specifically, an enclosure for their chosen animal. This project combined subjects of Writing, Science and Art with students going above and beyond to create some outstanding pieces of work. On Wednesday, Year 2 enjoyed a Celebration of Learning where they showed their parents all their hard work (and taught them a thing or two). Well done Year 2! Mrs Montgomery and Miss Mickey are so proud of you! #mamrelearning

NSWPSSA SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS // At the end of Term 3, Year 6 student Chloe represented Mamre and the CIS at the NSWPSSA Girls Softball Championships. A huge congratulations to Chloe who has now been selected for the NSWPSSA team at the Australian Championships! #mamrelearning

YEAR 12 GRADUATION // Yesterday's Year 12 Graduation was a time of both joy and sadness: the joyful celebration of the culmination of 13 years of schooling and sadness that our Year 12 students are no longer a daily part of our wonderful school community. As part of the Graduation Assembly, Kindergarten students presented each Year 12 student with a hand made card and a flower. As is our tradition, the entire school formed a guard of honour to farewell Year 12 as they left the school. Celebrations continued last night at the Graduation Dinner. We thank God for each of our Year 12 students and pray that they will be well prepared for their HSC examinations and for exciting futures! Even though Year 12 are no longer with us everyday, they will always be part of the Mamre Anglican School community and we look forward to their ongoing connection with our school. #mamrelearning

YOUNG VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR // Congratulations to Year 8 student Wesley on being awarded the NSW RFS Young Volunteer of the Year (12-15 years) at RFS Headquarters in Sydney Olympic Park yesterday. The Minister for Emergency Services and the RFS Commissioner both acknowledged Wesley's high level of commitment to his service in both Mamre Cadet Rural Fire Brigade and Orchard Hills Rural Fire Brigade, and the way in which he exemplifies the values of the NSW Rural Fire Service. Wesley's acceptance speech impressed all those present! #mamrelearning

DODGY KEBABS ON TOP AT PARLIAMENT HOUSE // Eight of our Year 8 STEM students had a great day at NSW Parliament House competing in the Cross Schools Challenge. Students were placed in mixed school groups and collaborated to come up with a solution to a given persona’s lifestyle, needs and interests. The winning group at the end of the day was announced and it was Group 22 ‘The Dodgy Kebabs’, which included our very own Luke Allen. Congratulations to all the competitors and well done Luke! #mamrelearning

Congratulations to Mamre’s fire cadets who won the bronze medal in the Tanker and Ladder event at the Australian Fire Cadet Championships yesterday. Well done to crew leader Jacob, pump operator Jonah, and firefighters Precious, Jaxon, Menzie and Wesley. #mamrelearning

LEADERSHIP // Yesterday our new 2023-24 Senior School student leadership team were inducted into their positions at a special assembly attended by the whole Senior School and the families of our new leaders. After taking their oath of office, our new School Captains, Tamara and Flynn, paid tribute to the outstanding service of our outgoing Year 12 leaders and reflected on the importance of us all being leaders, not just those with official roles. Year 12 then handed over the “baton of leadership” by pinning badges on our Year 11 leaders. #mamrelearning

LEARNING IS SHARED // There are many ways we celebrate the learning of our students at Mamre. Year 4 students recently conducted their first ever Student Led Conferences, where they showcased and discussed their learning across a range of subjects with their parents and carers. #mamrelearning

CHICKEN LITTLE IN PRE-K // Earlier this week our Pre-Kindergarten children welcomed some eggs into their classroom and now they are hatching! Seven chickens have already hatched, with more expected soon. And next week we are expecting the ducklings! #mamrelearning

AUSTRALIAN FIRE CADET CHAMPIONSHIPS // Our Mamre Cadet Rural Fire Brigade team has just finished the first day of competition in the Australian Fire Cadet Championships at Douglas Park in the NSW Southern Highlands. Twenty-two teams aged 12-16 from around Australia are competing in eight events that test their speed, agility, problem solving and firefighting skills. Our team members, Jacob, Precious, Jaxon, Jonah, Menzie and Wes are pictured with one of the South Australian teams just before going head to head in the Two Tanker event. Competition continues tomorrow. #mamrelearning #nswrfs

THE GREAT OUTDOORS // Last week Kindy, Year 1 and Year 2 attended Mamre’s first Day Camp, with exciting activities including shelter building, tent building, catapulting, scavenger hunts, fire building and art leaf rubbing. It was a beautiful spring day that was enjoyed by all. Outdoor Education is crucial for building skills such as communication, resilience, self-confidence, leadership, teamwork and initiative. It’s also great at just getting students interested in the outdoors. Mamre students are very blessed to have a place to learn outdoors whilst being watched by the local kangaroo neighbours! #mamrelearning
