The Mount Carmel Parent Library gathering last Wednesday evening was a wonderful coming together of parents, grandparents, students, and teachers who share a love of books and an appreciation for the critical importance of reading. Three ex-students joined us on the night – Rainier Reyes (HSC 2015), Emma Jones (HSC 2020), and Liam Tannoury (HSC 2024). Rainier scored 50/50 for his Year 12 English Extension 2 Major Work, ranking third in the state. Both Emma and Liam scored 49/50 and had their English Extension 2 Major Works published in NESA’s Young Writers Showcase. They are now published authors. These three young people spoke passionately about the power of storytelling and the importance of reading and writing to facilitate thinking.

On May 23, three of our Year 9 students took part in the Liturgical Music Masterclass hosted by the Marist Association of St Marcellin Champagnat.
Accompanied by Mr Follett and Mrs Borg, the students had the opportunity to learn from Tony Alonso, a renowned composer of sacred music and Latin Grammy nominee. The Masterclass focused on deepening students' understanding of music and liturgical leadership.
Our students proudly showcased their talents by performing for Tony and the audience.
