The 2025 MCCC Parent Library Evening is being held on the 11th June from 6:30pm. Visit the College library to browse our selection of books, bring your own to donate, and discuss literature and literacy in the College with our English faculty.

Congratulations to 2024 Mount Carmel graduate, Liam Michael Tannoury, for having his HSC English Extension 2 work chosen for the Young Writers 24 Anthology. Liam was one of only 19 students selected from more than 1500 across NSW to have their work featured in the Young Writers Showcase. Liam's work, a collection of poems, retold his mother’s journey as a Vietnamese refugee and his father’s past as a Lebanese child soldier. He shared, "It was my first time writing a big, ambitious piece of poetry, but I found I could write a poem in 10 to 15 minutes, and I would come to class and edit the next day.” He recommends students “trust your gut,” rely heavily on their teachers, and try not to mimic anyone. "The point of extension two is to find your own voice and find yourself as a young writer.” We would also like to acknowledge and congratulate Mrs Clare Murphy, who has taught English at Mount Carmel Catholic College for 32 years - for her ongoing support and dedication.
