For the last few years, MCCC (amongst other colleges and high schools) have changed their attendance for students at the annual Swimming Carnival to invitational/competitors only. Students self-nominate before the carnival to attend and compete in championship races only. Each year MCCC has approximately 50 students who attend, then qualify to attend and represent our college at the Diocesan Representative Swimming Carnival. Although only limited in numbers in comparison to when the whole school attended, these competitive students are dedicated, committed and swim with pride. The College gathered for the Ash Wednesday liturgy last week as part of the beginning of the Lenten season. This time reminds us that Lent is the season of renewal through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The College aims to raise money for Project Compassion and embrace the theme 'Unite Against Poverty'.
